Bristol Palin Reveals True Feelings About the McCains, 'Dancing With the Stars,
ABC NEWS ^ | June 21, 2011 | SHEILA MARIKAR

Posted on 06/21/2011 6:47:49 PM PDT by Hojczyk

In her memoir due out Friday, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far," the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor/potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin reveals her true feelings about the father of her son, the daughter of her mother's 2008 running mate, and much more.

Palin writes that the first time she met the 26-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, she "ignored us during the entire visit." This was just before Senator McCain introduced Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin adds that she "had a sneaking suspicion I might need to watch my back."

"Every time we saw Meghan, she seemed to be constantly checking us out, comparing my family to hers and complaining," she writes. "Oh the complaining."

Cindy McCain, the senator's wife, also rubbed the eldest Palin daughter the wrong way.

"I'd never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup," Palin writes, adding that the would-be first lady looked "like a queen" and held "herself like royalty."

Palin writes that she was shocked when the senator's wife offered to be a godmother to her unborn baby: "I had just met her and I wondered why she wanted any type of guardianship over my child."

Palin also shares not-so-fond memories of her 2010 stint on "Dancing With the Stars," where she and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, finished in third place.

"I noticed some of the contestants rolled their eyes when they realized we'd survived to dance another day," she writes, adding that some of the contenders voted off "literally would not speak to us or acknowledge our presence."

Cindy McCain offered to be godmother? That’s creepy. And likely a political ploy to make folks think they’re ‘close’ with the Palins.

You are reading the judgement of a unmarried, teenage mother.

Who am I more inclined to listen to? A grad of the school of hard knocks or someone born with a silver spoon in an orifice?

YMMV, but the impressions Meg has made haven't exactly been favorable with me.

I'd be interested in hearing what Bristol has to say.

>>> Or push them away.

Sorry but there I disagree. That we can reasonably call it a “soap opera” in the first place speaks to that. I think the feeling will be vaguely that enough drama goes with the presidency without knowingly inviting this sort of thing as well.

Remember. You are reading the judgement of a unmarried, teenage mother.

Lol. So what - that mean's that Bristol's opinion isn't valid? We have a Harvard educated married man in the Whitehouse who doesn't know diddly...education and marital status have nothing to do with a person's character. Some of the worst people I've known went to Ivy league schools.

And btw, it's "an unmarried" not "a unmarried". :)

Do YOU believe an unwed, teen mother has the wisdom to make these judgements?

So you think only married older people are wise. That can be disputed right on this thread. Google godparent.

To some people, mine included being a Godparent DOES have responsibilities, that is why you choose wisely.

Maybe there was no ulterior motive on Cindy McCain’s part.

Maybe there was no ulterior motive. But I would be insulted too, as it trivializes something that is important to a religious person.

Cindy McCain might not have intended the slight due to her ignorance, but it was there anyway.

The impression given is that Mrs McCain thought she was honoring the child, that Bristol should have been honored to have such an offer from a high born woman. Barf.....

I like some Malbec's from down there....

I like the Priorat's from Spain too. They both compliment red meat or white meat...IMO.

Well, when those judgements jive with the judgements this 28 year old man made a long time ago, I tend to believe it. Look, she made a mistake, but I think she’s basically handled it well. At least she didn’t abort the kid. Being judgemntal about these things is more likely to lead to more abortions rather than fewer teen pregnancies.

No! Really? Okay, you caught a typo. It MUST mean you are superior in judgement.

Lol. So what - that mean's that Bristol's opinion isn't valid? We have a Harvard educated married man in the Whitehouse who doesn't know diddly...education and marital status have nothing to do with a person's character. Some of the worst people I've known went to Ivy league schools.

Sure, her opinion matters - to her. Not to me. I have no desire whatsoever meet the McCains (I have expressed my disdain for them many times on this forum) but Bristol Palin's thoughts are just as immaterial as Meghan's.

Actually, the quote is minds instead of people, but enough nitpicking. There’s definitely some truth in that quote but I’ve never liked it because it was said by Eleanor Roosevelt and it’s almost impossible to talk about ideas without talking about things and people. To discuss the evils of communism, one almost has to talk about Marx, Stalin, and gulags.

Great people talk about ideas. Average people talk about things. Little people talk about other people.

I'm late to your comment, but I like it all the same.
