Now the lefties are acting out, throwing fire bombs and breaking windows. Typical. Next thing you know they'll find their inner Wisconsin and start chanting "this is what democracy looks like".
I think you are not aware the PM is a far left wing socialist. His socialist party holds 155 seats. They all voted for him. No one else did, of the 300 seats in parliament. It was a 5 vote win.
No, I am very aware of the situation. That's one of the more comical parts of this whole thing. The socialist party is in charge and the very lefties that usually support them are out in the streets wailing and crying about an austerity program that forces these socialist to sell off government entities, slash public sector spending, etc.
It's a pathetic situation, but it is ironic that the socialists are in charge and forced to force through these measures.
The no confidence vote was basically party lines. There was no surprise here, everyone including the markets knew this would be the result. This means the government will likely win the upcoming vote on the new austerity package.
In the meantime, the hippies and unions lost. So they are out in the streets breaking windows and generally making a nuisance of themselves.
I think you very well may be right. The general population is either in denial or is practicing a political version of jury nullification. Whichever, the Prime Minister may resign and Parliament may just sit on the their hands or it could even fall or resign in mass as well. At any rate, however this Greek Tragedy plays out, the military will be the only organization remaining with the capability to take control and run the country and implement the extreme austerity programs necessary to point Greece back toward solvency. Guess we shall see. I wonder if Americans are taking note of this and if they are making the corollary? Naw, probably not....
The ungrateful Greeks have been hateful towards us since early in the Cold War. To hell with them. They do not have the slightest particle of good will remaining among Americans.
I hope the country goes bankrupt and provides a harsh lesson in the fruits of socialism before the eyes of the entire world. They deserve a North Korean standard of living until they learn how to work, pay their taxes, smash their unions, and get along with the rest of us without being leeches.
I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it lovingly with seed. It was indeed a beautiful bird feeder.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.
Then came the bird crap. It was everywhere; on the patio tile, the chairs, the table … everywhere! Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn’t even sit on my own back porch anymore.
So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be … quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
