The late South African economist William Hutt, in his 1964 book, "The Economics of the Colour Bar," said that one of the supreme tragedies of the human condition is that those who have been the victims of injustices and oppression "can often be observed to be inflicting not dissimilar injustices upon other races."
Born in 1936, I've lived through some of our openly racist history, which has included racist insults, beatings and lynchings. Tuskegee Institute records show that between the years 1880 and 1951, 3,437 blacks and 1,293 whites were lynched. I recall my cousin's and my being chased out of Fishtown and Grays Ferry, two predominantly Irish Philadelphia neighborhoods, in the 1940s, not stopping until we reached a predominantly black North or South Philly neighborhood.
Today all that has changed. Most racist assaults are committed by blacks. What's worse is there're blacks, still alive, who lived through the times of lynching, Jim Crow laws and open racism who remain silent in the face of it.
Last year, four black Skidmore College students yelled racial slurs while they beat up a white man because he was dining with a black man. Skidmore College's first response was to offer counseling to one of the black students charged with the crime. In 2009, a black Columbia University professor assaulted a white woman during a heated argument about race relations. According to interviews and court records obtained and reported by Denver's ABC affiliate (12/4/2009), black gangs roamed downtown Denver verbally venting their hatred for white victims before assaulting and robbing them during a four-month crime wave. Earlier this year, four black girls beat a white girl at a McDonald's, and the victim suffered a seizure.

None of these incidents are ever prosecuted as hate crimes, if they are prosecuted at all. Of course in far too many jurisdictions, the government, while not maintaining law and order by prosecuting these crimes, does indeed prosecute to the hilt otherwise law-abiding citizens who choose to carry their own forms of protection.
Smells like anarchy to me.
Agreed. BTW, your tagline is on the mark with this democrat party. In the not so distant past, it was stupidity. Now it IS malice.
Walter Williams is a courageous man. I’ll bet I know exactly how he is perceived and treated by large parts of the black community.
“Blacks are more racist than Whites.”
- Larry Elder, “The Ten Things You Can’t Say In America”
The new racism? Black-on-black violence is still far more rampant in urban America and we never hear Obama talk about it.
I’ve been watching the cable TV show called “The First 48” and 9 out of 10 cases involve the murders of blacks by blacks who more often than not, knew each other.
I’d like to know what it is that causes this kind of behavior when the act of pulling the trigger multiple times or thrusting the knife blade is a matter of individual choice when the consequences are well known to the perpetrators.
Their first instincts are to lie through their teeth to law enforcement officials when interviewed and very few of those cases go unsolved.
So why does Obama pay so much attention to events in Libya and Egypt when we have these kinds of things going on here at home?
In the parallel universe of racial victimhood, the black victimhood elite play on racial antipathy to encourage young blacks to commit whatever hostility they can against other races -- since decades (even centuries) ago atrocities were committed against blacks as a group, any target, any victim, and eventually, any atrocity (although it has not yet reached that point) committed in the name of that victimhood gets a pass.
Maybe some day, the descendents of Irish immigrants will rediscover their as-yet untapped racial anger at the discrimination they suffered in 19th century U.S.
Will reparations be their demand? Will gangs of Irish-American thugs begin 'wilding' in the streets of the U.S.?
Will Irish-American leaders demand reparations, while a government agency doles out billions of dollars in guilt money to Irish who briefly thought about a career, but could not follow their dream because of discrimination?
Will industry repay the Irish-Americans for their poorly compensated labors on industrial infrastructure?
But wait -- that brings in the Chinese-Americans. How about THEIR unfairly compensated labor? And of course, shouldn't the government pay them off as well, for being denied their chances at careers in the gold fields of 19th century California? Perhaps, every Chinese immigrant who owned a pan should be considered a miner, and their descendents compensated for the injustices experienced.
Why don't we just dig around until every victim can be rooted out, rewarded from the government trough, and excused for any crime they commit.
"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal".--James (Jim) Cone,
African American Religious Thought: An Anthology (Paperback)

SEAN HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.
HANNITY: But I'm a reverend
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?

"The Justice Department originally brought the case against four armed men who witnesses say derided voters with catcalls of "white devil" and "cracker" and told voters they should prepare to be "ruled by the black man." ..."
One poll watcher called police after he reportedly saw one of the men brandishing a nightstick to threaten voters.
As I walked up, they closed ranks, next to each other, the witness told Fox News at the time. So I walked directly in between them, went inside and found the poll watchers. They said theyd been here for about an hour. And they told us not to come outside because a black man is going to win this election no matter what.
He said the man with a nightstick told him, Were tired of white supremacy, and he starts tapping the nightstick in his hand. At which point I said, OK, were not going to get in a fistfight right here, and I called the police....

According to the Holder Justice Department, these cannot be hate crimes.
Quite a brave statement by Walter Williams, which will no doubt be ignored.
While I think the black hoodlums involved in the latest incidences of attacking non-blacks should be handled in a very rough fashion, most of the blame for these incidences can be laid at the feet of liberals. Liberal advocacy of acting nice towards would-be thugs for the last forty years has created and encouraged many of them. More cracks on the head with a billy club to a small number would discourage a lot more. By the way, I favor this for white mobs like the ones who tore up Vancouver last week. The Vancouver police should have waded in with billy clubs and dented the skulls of those virtually all-white rioters.
