I hear you. I do hold Bush responsible for those things. I think he did them to try to be liked and fit in with the political culture. All that “compassionate conservatism” crap. That’s a reason, not an excuse. He wouldn’t defend himself on Iraq either. That’s all his fault.

You know, that is precise point where he lost me. The EXACT point. Setting aside the implicit contempt for all conservatives, it shows that he never, ever, not for a second ever had a CLUE what conservatism IS. Not a clue.
