Ed Henry, CNNs senior White House correspondent, is leaving to take the job of chief White House correspondent at Fox News, a source close to Henry confirms to POLITICO.
Hell be taking over the beat thats been without a permanent reporter since Major Garrett jumped from Fox to National Journal last August.
Hes got a lot of wonderful experiences at CNN, and he appreciated his time there, but in the end, they gave him an offer he couldnt turn down, said the source.
Hell be leaving CNN at the end of the week.
Henry left college early to go to work for legendary muckracker Jack Anderson, working as a correspondent for Andersons syndicatd column while finishing his degree at night. His first newspaper job was for Roll Call, as a senate correspondent and a later a senior editor. At CNN, which he joined as a congressional correspondent in 2004, he won the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress and the Merriman Smith Award for excellence in White House coverage.
During his first month on the job at CNNs White House correspondent in 2006, he shouted a question to President Bush in the Rose Garden about Donald Rumsfelds handling of the Iraq war that prompted the famous retort: Im the decider.
UPDATE: TV Newser has Henrys full goodbye memo to colleagues.
It was during O’Reilly on FOX News Channel.
>>>Wouldn’t it be nice to have just one Conservative news network for a change ?
I’d rather have a news entity that only cared about one thing: Reporting facts.
>>>It was during OReilly on FOX News Channel.
Cable systems are capable of inserting local advertising... and they probably inserted that promo.
>>>Geeze...it sounds like Fox News is going to become even harder to watch than it already is.
Turn it off. I’ve not watched FNC or any other cable news net for 5+ years.
That commercial will be Olbermann’s biggest rating.
LOL and indeed. . .
Maybe he and "Puddin'" Shep Smith will get to swap Weiner tweets.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
It is getting as bad as when there were only 3 networks. The leftist journalism schools have been churning out these propaganda readers for more than 3 decades. Axlerod must be licking his chops. Roger Ailed is losing it and Rupert Murdoch seems to be taking the safe route and not opposing the administration any where nearly as hard as he use to. Looks like they each were made an offer they couldn't refuse.
So FNC hires another Obamabot to cover the White House during an election year. I need a drink....
Does Fox News not care about its viewers??? What the hell has been happening over there the last few years? What happened to “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” If I wanted two watch CNN, I would turn the channel TO CNN. Oy.
I’m just thinking .. maybe it’s the opposite. Maybe Roger Ailes is stealithy reducing the competition’s most visible onscreen talent.
Hmmm ..
Just saw an ad for Bedwetter Olbermanns new show on the Algore Channel being advertized during OReillys show on FOX.
Don't get too worked up...It was probably a simple cross-media buy. It happens all the time on cable.
Fox is seriously screwing up what made them so successful with this lurch to the left. Ed Henry is one of the worst Obots out there!

That was fast. Hours after Ed Henry announced his move from CNN to Fox News as chief White House correspondent, the liberal media watchdog Media Matters has begun painting him as a right-wing nut job.
