A mother who shocked America by drowning her five children in the bathtub may be freed by the end of the year, according to her lawyer.

Andrea Yates systematically murdered her children, aged between six months and seven years, at her suburban Clear Lake, Texas, home ten years ago today.

She then dialled 911 and told the first police officer who arrived at the house: 'I just killed my kids.'

FourPeas, my mother was loony and after a while, I broke it off. Do it to save yourself if you have to, you’ll be a lot less stressed. She died some time after and I can easiily tell you that you might feel guilty that your mother (as mine did) had it so bad that she went crazy, but you cant let that ruin your own life and self destruct like they did. Your mother was abused to the point of insanity, but she is at this point so out of touch that she would only be a burden to the life you’re trying to live.

Thank you. I used to feel badly. I tried to help her, but I couldn’t drag both myself and her out of it. I have my own family that needs me and right now she’s too toxic.

have you considered asking your mother to take pills?

No, I've not tried. She doesn't trust psychologists or psychiatrists or anything having to do with them. Getting her help would require legal action. Since there's currently no indication she's a danger to herself or others, that's not an option.

One major problem is that these days, people are not encouraged to give up on the dysfunctional. Once you do, you will feel a million times better. Let her wallow in her own psychosis and indulge; if she self destructs, she at the least won’t tkae you with her.

“Getting her help would require legal action. Since there’s currently no indication she’s a danger to herself or others, that’s not an option.”

Which is a huge pity; if she does hurt someone, then it will be of little comfort to the victim.

“I can’t imagine any caring husband and father doing what he did.”

They’re called religious zealots. They tend to act in such a manner.
