Report: Bachmann ordered Ed Rollins to apologize to Palin’s team (privately)
HotAir ^ | Monday June 20, 2011 | AllahPundit

Bachmann’s newly installed political team has had its own battles with message discipline — typified by campaign manager Ed Rollins’ recent comments alleging that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin hasn’t been “serious” over the last few years.

After the incident, Bachmann was “very firm” with Rollins, according to an adviser to the congresswoman, telling him this should not happen again and that there should be “no more press”. Bachmann also demanded that Rollins call the Palin people and apologize. “She is definitely not tone deaf,” the source added.

Bachmann’s move to limit her exposure in the wake of her debate performance is a smart strategy designed to avoid accidentally trampling on the momentum she built with that performance.

[.........]

Such is Palin’s conservative cachet among the base, I think, that not even Michele Bachmann would feel completely safe from charges of RINO-ism if she had let Rollins’s attack slide. Already I’ve seen her dismissed by a few people in the comments here and elsewhere as some sort of stalking horse for Romney whose mission is to clear his way to the nomination by siphoning off votes from Pawlenty and Palin

"Making Rollins apologize publicly would call attention to the statement and give the MSM more ammunition to attack Sarah.

Yeah, the Left would love to frame up a petty Palin vs Bachmann diva-fight.

She doesn’t need a public apology. That would not of made any of you happy that were crapping on Michele before Rollins came along. He was nothing more than an attempt at a justifiable excuse.

You want to hate her because she isn’t Palin.

Fine, you can do that, but at least be honest about it. Face it, no apology would please you or any Palin fan.

I am missing an apology to Michele when Palin mentioned Michele was really lacking executive experience. I could respond for Bachmann to that, but I will refrain from that. You can probably guess what that would be.

Thats all fine, but turnabout really is fair play.

Heads will explode if Palin endorses Bachmann.

You folks need to put away the tin foil and step away from the long knives.

Lets just say that is the first, second and third of her many mistakes she will have. She can only save herself by dropping this dead weight or she'll carry it to a defeat.

LOL HotAir is totally in the tank for Palin and has been for a long time now. Nothing is going to satisfy die hard Palin fans IMO. But the fact is ever since those comments were made we haven’t heard one word from Ed Rollins. Seems to me he was taken to the woodshed and told to shut up and he has.

This might work with some, but it won’t with me.

This is slime politics and nothing less.

She chose to hire Rollins.

She chose not to fire him.

She chose to hide in the dark until she FINALLY woke up to all of the noise over this issue and is now trying to deal with damage control.

She reminds me of Huckabeeeee showing the world the commercial that he actively claimed he was never going to run.... even while he is running it.

I once had enormous respect for her. There was a time I had hoped that she would become part of the Palin team, perhaps even the V.P.

I no longer support her, I don’t even like her now and I damn sure don’t trust her.

Whatshername-Rolins blew it and I seriously doubt that she could make it to the general anyway.

I’ll be voting for Sarah Palin, Liberty, our Constitution and American Exceptionalism.

The comments were not private so the apology should not have been....if it was made.

The only people who care about Ed Rollins are die hard Palin supporters/political junkies. I have friends who have been layed off and are struggling to find a job and pay their mortgage. I can tell you they don’t give a sh*t about what some staffer of Michele Bachmann said about Sarah Palin. I was at the RightOnline conference this past Saturday and not one person I talked to mentioned Ed Rollins. The majority of conservatives don’t care.

Sorry MB...

I'm skeptical about the contentions made in this piece from Hot Air. Like many others, I liked Michele Bachmann and was very disappointed when she (a) hired Ed Rollins and, (b) remained silent after his gratuitous blast at Sarah Palin, immediately showing his true colors. It's nice that Bachmann ordered Rollins to apologize in private but considering the insult was very public and fed right into the liberal meme on Palin, it required a public apology to be meaningful. If Michele Bachmann couldn't get that from Rollins, he should have been fired. He didn't and he wasn't. I can understand Michele Bachmann not wanting to keep the issue in the news and then, trying to keep her momentum from the CNN debate going without a distraction but I still can't feel comfortable with her after this and continue to believe that the Democrats, knowing that Obama's re-election chances are a lot weaker than they want us to believe, are counting on Bachmann's run keeping Sarah Palin out of the race. If that is actually the case, I hope it fails.

Why she anyone apologize because Bachmann has no executive experience? She doesn't.

This seems like rumors of a rumor. Can this info be trusted? If this happened, I don’t blame Bachmann for keeping this in house. I just wish that these news outlets could bother giving us a NAMED SOURCE once in a blue moon. Otherwise this type of reporting seems lazy and unreliable.

This piece is by allahpundit folks. Time to remind everyone that he has it in for Sarah Palin. Evidently, he's developing his own Bachmann agenda as well - I have a feeling that I still don't know what really happened. Given allahpundit's drive towards snideness and trouble making re all things Palin, IMO, it's just more of the same.

As I said on another thread, the hatred for Bachmann around here is:

1. She's not Sarah Palin;

2. She's not supposed to be running for president, Sarah Palin is.

These days many Palin supporters will trash anyone who have even the slimmest chance of either keeping her from running or getting the nomination instead of her. But as I've also said if Palin had jumped in most likely Bachmann would not be running and Perry wouldn't be thinking about running. As long as she stays out others will jump in. They're not going to wait to see what she does.
