NBC News Panel Left Stunned...House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif) appeared on MSNBC's ‘Morning Joe' this morning to discuss the administration's so-called anti-gun trafficking program known as ‘Fast and Furious.' Issa said the program "looks like Iran Contra," and began almost immediately after Pres. Obama's inauguration. Issa says the plan was intentional: to let illegal guns walk across the border ‘to see where the weapons would end up....it was like letting go of the steering wheel and seeing where the car would end up, but not grabbing it before it leaves the road.'

Wrong. Iran-Contra was a desperate attempt to keep Nicaragua from becoming another Cuba, while Fast & Furious was designed ultimately to deprive Americans of gun ownership, particularly of weapons which could be used to keep America from becoming another Cuba.

Trying to figure out just what Issa meant by “looks like Iran-Contra”. Could he have meant that like “Iran-Contra”, “Fast and Furious” involved very high-ranking government officials, but not necessarily all of them, or the very top ones? And the ones involved will lawyer-up?

That was just the part that did a good thing with the profits on the arms that were swapped to get the hostages released.

Unfortunate comparison. The Contras were our allies; the Mexican drug-and-invasion gangs are our enemies.

It's not an exact comparison.

It's just rhetoric to show the Dems that under-the-table gun-dealing is NOT just done by Repubs.

In fact, Issa probably knows that if he can cause people to comparison the two scenarios, this will be seen as much worse.

I had a lib tell me “This was started under Bush.” Bush’s fault again!

Watch out for that, because like most things liberal, it’s true but misleading. Under Bush they let the people buy the guns, tracked them, arrested them, and retrieved the guns. Not one gun went missing, and it resulted in hundreds of arrests. That is good investigation, and our current gun laws working.

They didn’t start purposely letting guns disappear into Mexico until months after Obama took over. That means this wasn’t done by the rank and file, it was the result of a policy change at the highest levels that got replaced by the new administration. And since it seriously affected international relations by allowing guns into Mexico, there’s no way Obama wasn’t at least briefed on this new policy.

How else were they going to get the $ to aid the Contras, when the commie Demonrats had blocked all such funding?

There' s a BIG difference.

In "Iran Contra" the U.S. government's purpose was to defend against the Islamist and Communist enemies attacking us -- the Obama Administration targets include everyday U.S. citizens.

On the bright side this proves the separation between the people of the United States of America and the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky street/campus revolutionary rabble and their ideological issue.

The latter has arguably become the Establishment.

I say let the professionals in the military and LEO do it.. but the time has come for the Revolution.

we don’t know yet...maybe he sold the guns to Mexican drug cartels and gave the money to Hamas?

Or it could be that Obama is helping the cartels who are helping his Muslim Brotherhood in Mexico. Leftists love criminals and enemies of the US and are richly rewarded by criminals and enemies of the US.

I think the real motive is to “prove” that sales of guns in this country contribute to crime and civil war in Mexico. Then they will use that to justify harsh anti-gun laws in the U.S., esp. against semi-autos and so-called “assault rifles” which patriots could use if rebellion in this country becomes necessary.

If that was ATF’s reason and strategy, they lost when Issa nailed them as the arms dealers. I really think they were abetting the cartels. Clinton was into dealing drugs as Gov. of Arkansas. I would not doubt Obama’s and Holder’s “people” are into the same business.
