Rep. Issa Threatens to Eliminate National Labor Relations Board Over Boeing Dispute

In a hearing rife with partisan disagreement, Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, threatened to eliminate the National Labor Relations Board at his committee's hearing today in response to a lawsuit the board has filed against Boeing. "We could eliminate the NLRB or take the premise and statutorily change it," said Issa, R-Calif. "This [lawsuit] could lead to repercussions in America's competitiveness."

The airplane manufacturer is being investigated for "transferring" the production of its 787 Dreamliner airplane from union-friendly Washington to South Carolina, where union influence is not as strong. The word "transferring" was a sticking point for Rep. Tim Scott, R-S.C., because Boeing had not physically moved any jobs out of Washington. The company has added 2,000 union jobs at the Washington plant since the decision was made to move to South Carolina, where 1,000 new employees will begin working later this summer.

The NLRB should be eliminated in any event.

Yes it should. On the positive side, Obama is exposing all the agencies that need to be done away with by the next President.

Boeing did not “move” any jobs. As the story properly points out, the number of jobs in Washington has increased by 2000 since the decision was made to “expand” their manufacturing capabilities to SC where only 1000 will start this summer.

We need to make sure we correct the story whenever possible to as many as possible. Correct the lies being propogated by the media with boldness. I do and you would be surprised at the number of people who want to know more once I say something in a public setting. Too bad they don’t make real soap boxes anymore! :)

Boeing should move its whole operations from Washington to Texas. They would be in a friendly business climate...and the people here would appreciate them being here instead of hasseling them.

The former Perrin AFB has 9000 ft runways that can handle the heaviest aircraft would be a perfect place for Boeing. It is nearly on the shores of Lake Texoma...an hour's drive from Dallas/Ft worth, and is surrounded by 3 or 4 million friendly Texans.....yeah....

It does get a little warm in the Summer tho,....but what the heck, its TEXAS in the summer....

..its supposed to be hot.

Go, Darrell, go. Not that the NLRB was ever about labor relations as much as union relations, it should be renamed NURB, but, getting rid of it is good.
