After her speech at the Republican Leadership Conference, I asked GOP presidential candidate and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann about her repeated claims that she has "raised" 23 foster children, a comment she reiterated in an interview with CNN following her speech.
Writing in the Daily Beast this week, Michelle Goldberg quoted Kris Harvieux, who worked as a senior social worker in the foster care system in Bachmann's county, who said at least some of Bachmann's placements were likely short term.
"Some of them you have for a week. Some of them you have for three years, some you have for six months," he said. "She makes it sound like she got them at birth and raised them to adulthood, but that's not true."
According to Goldberg, the Minnesota Department of Human Services reports that Bachmann's foster care license allowed her to care for at most three children at any one time; she had the license for 7 1/2 years.
Asked to explain her situation with her foster children, Bachmann said "we took children in as teenagers."
"Their family was facing a challenge and they weren't going to be able to be at home with their parents and so we took them in as teenagers," she continued. "And our job was to see that they graduated from high school and were successfully launched into the world."
Asked how long they lived with her, she said "it varied."
I asked Bachmann to explain the parameters of how long the children lived with her - was it as short as one week? As long as three years?
"It varied, it really varied depending on the children," Bachmann responded. "And we've never gotten into specifics about the children because we've always wanted to observe their privacy and that of their families."

and so it starts. The Palin anal probe.
So they are taking something good and trying to turn it into something bad.
amazing
Hair splitting. Lets see the honor grades that got BO onto the board of the law review, hmmmmm?
And then they go on to show that the above is a bunch of bovine scatology. GMAFB. Those people have no shame.
“...at least some of Bachmann’s placements were likely short term.”
In other words, the author doesn’t have any facts.
Now it’s Bachmann derangement syndrome.
It’s so much like the MSM to warp a statement of hers into a strawperson then cheerfully bash away at it. When will people get so disgusted they turn off the TV?
I didn’t imagine she had 23 foster kids living with her from birth to adulthood and I can’t imagine anyone else did It’s ahard job—especially with teenagers—and she should be praised for doing it no matter how long each kid was in her care.
Barky would not even hep his own Aunt out.
According to some documents uncovered by CBS News, one of the kids was once caught chewing gum in class...
Which is 23 more of any kind foster kid than Zero & Moo, the Pelosi pukes, the Reid pukes, Katie and the CBS pukes, etc.
And the author, Brian Montopoli, I wonder how many children he has fostered? Inquiring minds want to know.... I’ll bet none.
But I thought it “takes a village” to raise kids?
Or on the other hand, are they considering all the illegal immigrants Zero and the Progressives “foster kids”?
We need an investigative journalist to examine the following:
Is CBS News actually a “News” organization?
Or are they imposters, and instead merely an organized propaganda outlet?
The only thing this story needs is a crazy guy at a Kinkos faxing fake-but-accurate documents.
That and more cowbell.
So what? How many foster children did Mitt take in?
She was probably the Emergency placement spot which is the place where a child needing STAT placement are sent in the middle of the night.
Then the kids in a safe place until many are moved to a relative or family friend.
My grandparents were foster parents when I was growing up. They took problem teenagers in and paid for it in stress and lost time with their own family. They even had one twin brother stab the other to death in their dining room at dinner.
The teens they took in were the reason we real grandkids didn’t get a lot of time there. It was a hell of a sacrifice they made.

I kept thinking about how Brian used the word 'raised" and how all the rest of the democrats on here are calling Michelle a liar and screaming about the word "raised".
So I went and pulled up the CNN transcript of the debate and this is what she actually said.
"REP. MICHELE BACHMANN (R), MINNESOTA: Hi, my name is Michelle Bachmann. I'm a former federal tax litigation attorney. I'm a businesswoman. We started our own successful company. I'm also a member of the United States Congress. I'm a wife of 33 years. I've had five children, and we are the proud foster parents of 23 great children. And it's a thrill to be here tonight in the "Live Free or Die" state."
"Thank you. Now, I didn't come from a perfect background. My parents were divorced. And I was raised by a single mother. There's a lot of single families and families with troubled situations. That's why my husband and I have broken hearts for at-risk kids and it's why we took 23 foster children into our home."
No where in the transcript is the word 'raised'. Which "raises" the question why this article, why the lies, and are all democrats so stupid as to just be led by the nose by a cheap article????
It's a hit piece, and it worked. The DNC sheep took the bait and ran with it. It will now be "facts' that they will repeat for years.
pathetic!
