NEW ORLEANS -- Rick Perry delivered an unapologetically socially conservative speech before a friendly crowd here.
We need to stop apologizing for celebrating life, the Republican Texas governor bellowed at the Republican Leadership Conference in a finger-pointing, finger-wagging and, at times, bombastic, speech.
Stop apologizing for wanting to stem the tide of the entitlement mindset, he boasted.
Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so lets stop trying to curry favor with them, he said, before imploring the crowd to stand up. Lets speak with pride about our values. Lets stop this American downward spiral.
He acknowledged later with a smile, Im preaching to the choir here."
Perry did not address the speculation surrounding his potential run for president and did not take questions after his speech. Instead, after bounding off the stage to chants of, Run, Rick, run, pumping his fists, and shaking hands with audience members, he headed backstage and did not reemerge in the hallways here.
Of all the speakers of the three-day confab, Perry was the best-received, even more so than Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), who was a close second. Perry got a standing ovation when he took the stage, several times during his speech, and at the end.
Hes the man, one man said to a woman right after Perrys speech.

“Otherwise it will pretty much be too late to put together the required national organization and fund-raising operation, plus take care of all the federal and state legal requirements, plan out a campaign, set up speaking engagements, and so on.”
..that is unless you’ve already been planning, organizing, stumping for candidates in the mid-terms, putting together PACs, etc. in the two years since the miserable wretches stabbed you in the back, attacked your family, and forced you to resign your state elective office using legal blackmail.
Thanks for that information.
It could be Perry/Rubio.
Palin will monitor and keep them on track. Rubio is definately more conservative than Perry.
What you said is good, but the Gardisil issue is not a deal-breaker at all. The Mandatory Vaccination issue has been around since the 1700s and it hardly splits along liberal-conservative lines.

STANDING OVATION
Perry, who took over as governor in Texas when George W. Bush moved to the White House and is in his fourth term, said social conservatives have been too quick to surrender in battles over abortion rights and other hot-button issues.
"It saddens me when sometimes my fellow Republicans duck for cover under pressure from the left," he said.
A staunch critic of federal power and regulations, he also said that Washington would never give up power until "the American people get up and demand reform."
The crowd of curious activists gave Perry a standing ovation, and many chanted "Run, Rick, Run." [end excerpt]
It was always optional. But now it isn't set up for mass use either.
Nope. Rubio would not meet Constitutional requirements.
The liars that keep bringing up the Guardisil issue makes one wonder if they would change their views if the got a good dose of cervical cancer in their families...nahh most of them wouldn’t...they would blame it on the “Easter Bunny”..
The other vaccines, which are no longer enforced were targeted to all kids, not just females. If you are going to use big government it would always be good to have no financial stake in the outcome personally.
Perry oppposed the Arizona immigration law too. He was one that refused to have the conference in Arizona.
He is electable, but he is not conservative. People will make up that he is, but he really is not.
If it is him against Obama, I will have to vote for him, but it won’t be a vote that advances conservatism at all. Very sad.
Conservataives are actively working to destroy conservatives, so I guess this is what we will get. Yee hah!
".....Perry repeatedly brought an audience of hundreds of Republican activists to their feet with a small government message reminiscent of the one that helped him win an unprecedented third term as governor last November. Perry said there is "too much spending, too much interfering and too much apologizing" in Washington.
"Stand up!," Perry thundered. "Let's speak with pride about our morals and our values and redouble our effort to elect more conservative Republicans. Let's stop this American downward spiral!"....
......He listed a simple four-point recipe for a health economy: "don't spend all the money," keep taxes low, maintain a fair and predictable regulatory climate, and reform the legal system to prevent frivolous lawsuits. Source
And how is that AZ immigration law working for AZ?
There's more than one way to skin a cat.
Post #10 If you show up illegally, without your card or youre here as a criminal element, Im for throwing the book at those folks, but the issue of people who want to legally, thoughtfully and appropriately come to America to work and help us build our economy we should quickly come up with a program and an identification card to do that. [end excerpt]
Again: See Post #10.
I think he is head and shoulders above a lot of folks.
He is the antithesis of Obama.
Texas has a huge hispanic population.
Just because Perry recognizes that does not make him pro illegal immigration.
I got no problem with the guy legally running the carneceria, but have a rope for the medijin cartel SOBs.
Perry is pretty much the same.
Love him or hate him, this guy knows how to tackle difficult social problems and he never stifled the economy in doing it.
Talk is cheap. Really cheap.
Or Perry/WEST
