Great video of Shatner as Denny Crane being considered for run as a fictional Republican presidential candidate.
Yes, it was made as part of Boston Legal to make Republicans look bad, but like most Hollywood types, they don't understand that what they consider jokes and bad positions are really so very close to the feelings of many Americans who are fed up with Big Government Washington.
Yes, it is satire... and it's fun.... but... there are lessons here. .

I always wondered what Shatner’s real politics are. Probably liberal, but they guy has 4 daughters. That usually turns a man “conservative”, because he wants to protect them from guys with liberal attitudes about sex. Plus he was polite to Rush on his show, and genuinely seemed to like him. Shatner seems to have mellowed with age. He was truly shocked to find out what his Star Trek co-stars REALLY thought about him.

Yes, I like his current mellow self better than his “Galaxy Quest”-type arrogant star. He’s actually much more self confident.
