DC has already compromised every single one of my principles a gazillion times. Compromising is the reason we're in a screaming nosedive into the abyss.
I agree. I'm convinced that's why we still have the abomination of abortion with us after 38 years. We could have outlawed it during any Congress from 2001-2007.
The problem is how do we change it. We have to be realistic. Half of the country voted for BHO, and some high percentage supports the Pelosi’s and Weiners of the Congress. We will not be able to make an immediate wholesale change of Congress, which is what is really needed.
Gramsci understood this and took the “long walk” through our institutions. He’s long since dead, but his plans are coming to fruition. To reverse his evil, we will have to a long walk *back* through our institutions and restore them to sanity. And we may not be able to finish that work in our lifetimes.
I don’t know if West has been compromised or he just made a deal with devil. He is from FL, and does ultimately represent HIS district. What do the people in his district want? If West sticks to his principles, and comes back to his district having “accomplished nothing”, he will be out.
I think of poor Paul Ryan. He, like the fictional Mr. Smith, went to DC believing that his job was to actually solve real problems. His modest budget proposal was savaged by the Left (expected), attacked by his own party members (unexpected), and then he was savaged by his own constituents at a town hall meeting (unreal). What the hell do the PEOPLE want? Obviously, they want Harry Potter, or maybe Voldemort to rescue or enslave them. You notice how the media has ignored him now? He’s almost persona-non-grata.
We will have to change the culture to really see change in DC.
