Well, she expresses the liberal view of equivalence.

The liberal view is that there are terrorists of all religions. Many say that McVeigh was a Christian terrorist. And they say that ultra-religious Christians are the ones who bomb abortion clinics.

So, in their liberal minds, there are Islamic terrorists, and Christian terrorists, and terrorists of many religions. Because of this, we’re not allowed to focus on Islamic terror threats, because there are threats from all faiths.

And on a related note, we’re not supposed to say anything about “Islamic terror” in the first place. We are told that not all Muslims are terrorists, and that we can’t indict an entire religion for the actions of a few. We are supposed to condemn terrorist acts but not condemn the religion which motivates such acts.

So to be a good liberal, that is your world view.

I think it’s simpler than “equivalence”.

They hate biblical Christianity, so anything that is in opposition to it is inherently “good”. Therefore, Islam must be defended. All other religions must be elevated and protected while Christianity is denigrated.
