Jon Huntsman: Who the media is really in the tank for
June 15, 2011

Posted on 06/15/2011 4:21:22 AM PDT by ejdrapes

Joe Scarborough said this morning on Morning Joe: "rank and file Republicans are hungry for a guy like Huntsman". Then as the show progressed they started making fun of Rick Perry.

If the media is pushing anyone is Jon Huntsman. The MSM may have declared Bachmann the winner (along with Romney) of the debate on Monday night (as did conservative media), but they're not in the tank for her. Now that Huntsman has announced watch them push the meme that he's so smart and eloquent that he's the only one who can beat Obama..

America has a very big problem.

Called China.

We are increasingly in national denial, about the challenge China represents. Even on this forum, we seem determined to pretend China does not exist.

China is America’s biggest challenge internationally. Biggest. China represents a true, existential threat to America.

Huntsman has just returned from being our ambassador to China. He understands China.

That alone, makes him more qualified than most of the other candidates.

I’m hoping Huntsman lives up to his potential.

I don’t want the media to have to turn on our candidates.

I want our candidates “vetted.”

Michele Bachmann is probably a very nice lady. I’m happy that she had a nice performance at the debate that no one watched. But this gal has some “baggage.” And it won’t be exposed now, because they are going to save it. A 30 minute session on Google or Yahoo will enlighten you.

I’ll repeat what I said months ago on FR:

SP has been completely vetted (even more so in the last week!)

The MSM will pipe down, for now, on our candidates. They plan to save their ammo for a time when it’s too late to switch seats.

They play hardball, we play T-ball.

We cannot hope they vet BHO; they won’t.

SP has already been vetted.

MB talks a good game, but look at how her record doesn’t comport with her personal finances. She too, is hooked on the taxpayer tit. And watch the video over how fast she accepted the BO birth certificate. It was embarassing.

Palin gets a pass on this for ONLY one reason: I’m not entirely convinced that the man who chose her to run with him met every standard of Natural Born. She would have had no choice.

The nanosecond I heard MB returned the donation of SarahPac, uncashed, despite having SP fly all the way into MN for a massive fundraising event....

I mean, who does this? Honest to God.

Any human being who did not realize, at that point, that MB was a snake in the grass, lives in some alternative universe.

MB is all about MB.

Whenever Scarborough likes a Republican run like the wind the other way.

Someone had better send Gleen Beck the memo!

I fully expect Beck to endorse Bachmann and the Romney plan.

Despite the fact he needed SP in one of his self serving “events.”

GB is helpful, but he is also all about GB. Don’t ever forget that.

I think Huntsman knows exactly what he is doing. He threw his name in the hat, not to become POTUS this time ‘round, but to get the name recognition he will need when he runs 5,8,12 or 16 years from now.

He is only 51. He still has another 20 years to be in the limelight and “earn” his title. It’s a political game, people. His money will allow him to play it well.

My God have mercy on us.

5,8,12 or 16...

That should be 4 years from now and not 5. I'm typing in the dark....sheesh

If Palin got in the race wouldn't that keep a lot of people out? If she was in right now would Bachmann be running? Would Perry be thinking about a run? Fact is people aren't going to wait around to see what she does. If you love Palin so much and think she deserves the nomination than you should be wishing she was a declared candidate. The longer she stays out the harder it will be for her to jump in. I know that's not the CW around here but if Rick Perry gets in (someone Palin endorsed in the primary) what is her selling feature to say vote for me over Perry? He's been a governor for 10 years. Palin left her governorship half way through her first term.

Yes I'm a Bachmann supporter but I know her chances of getting the nomination are slim. But if she continues to perform well I think she'll be a good choice for VP. Why would the MSM push Bachmann as a means of keeping Palin out when it's quite clear Palin would be running for one job only - President. Basically what you (and others) are suggesting is the MSM is propping up a likely VP condender to keep a Presidential contender out. Makes no sense to me.

I expect an effective alliance between corporate Republicans and the Democrats to give Romney the nomination. For those Repulicans, well, “It’s his turn.” The Democrats already have their candidate and will reregister as Republicans to flood the Republican primaries and give us Romney as they did for us last time with McCain. In 2008 they understood long before the rest of us did that the kenyan had a lock and the later Republican primaries had large contingents of McCain Democrats voting in them. McCain was the Democrat candidate for the Republican nomination. Romney seems to fill that bill this time around.

I’m not a Romney supporter and I wouldn’t vote for him in the primaries but if he ends up with the nomination I will support him because anyone is better than Obama.

I agree, that’s the most likely scenario.

But Romney is still an awkward and unappealing candidate. Did you see all his bad joking and awkward moves yesterday?

If Palin gets in and runs a superb campaign, I still think she can beat him, but that’s the only hope we have.

Do you really want me to spit out what I already know about Bachmann? It took me about one hour to find out, btw.

She is NOT what she pretends to be. Now, should we conservatives reveal it, or should we allow Chris Matthews and Anderson Cooper to reveal it?

I like Perry. But he has the same problem that GWB had: the governor of Texas is one of the weakest of all. It is almost a ceremonial position. They have no real power or authority.

On the other hand, Alaska has it differently. I read someplace (and I’ll have to dig it up) that Alaska’s consitution gives the second most authority to it’s governor. No, I don’t know the other state.

And who wouldn’t want a VP that can’t deliver her own state to our team?

It would be like Biden unable to poop out Delaware.

The kenyan is an existential threat to America.
Huntsman may understand China but he would act on that understanding the way a Statist mostly Democrat would react if he accepted that the US should survive in the first instance. Democrat Democrats don’t accept that. A RINO response to certain knowledge that China is an existential threat would not do this country any good. Since we have already squandered away our national wealth a Big Statist approach won’t have the resources left to do anything positive while a Big Statist will be further depressing the economy. Understanding the enemy is NOT enough.

I disagree that Romney would be better than the kenyan. He would be pushing the same totalist crap, the difference being that he would get a lot of it past the Republican Congress that the kenyan cannot get. Also a Romney presidency will give the Congress back to the Democrats just in time for the Democrats, probably the kenyan again, to get the whole ball of wax again in 2016.

that’s what people said about mccain and look what we have now. Like I said I do not support Romney now and would only support him if he got the nomination. Romney would not have nominated Sotomayor and Kagan to the supreme court.

There’s nothing you need to spit out. There’s nothing hidden about her. But if you want to smear her fine, just proves to me unclassy some Palin supporters are. If you’re so sure of the brilliance of your candidate why do you feel the need to trash others?
