AOL Weird News gave two writing analytic companies samples of the former Alaska governor's recently released emails and both agree that the Tea Party favorite writes as if she's in middle school.
The 24,000 emails during Palin's time as Alaska governor are still being studied. But the documents are filled with her famous folksy phrases like "holy moly," "shindig" and "holy flippin' crap."
It turns out Palin's writing skills are still better than most educated Americans. Global Language Monitor gave Palin's emails a score of 8.2, which actually exceeds that of most chief execs. "She's very concise. She gives clear orders. Her sentences and punctuations are logical," said Paul Payack of GLS. "She has much more of a disciplined mind than she's given credit for."
John Katzman, CEO of another company, 2tor, gave Palin a score of 8.5. He said the potential presidential candidate's emails scored higher than his own, when based on the widely-used Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

I AIM for 8 when I write nontech stuff. It’s clear and the majority of people understand it.
I’m tempted to take some Nina Totenberg articles and run them through Word to get a “reading level” on them.
The problem is with her speaking style. Most Americans will form their impressions on what she said, not what she wrote.
IIRC, 8th grade was the recommended level back when I was writing for corporations (90s-00s)
I've found myself in a variety of work situations in my life. In some situations, I've worked for executives who were semi-literate but quite smart in spite of their lack of communicative skills. I've worked for people who were quite literate and lousy leaders. There are many extremes out there and even more in between.
I said this exact thing about Palin—though I explained it in terms of the way she processes logic, not in a numerical measurement of her reading skills—back about two years ago when she was under attack on this website for being “unintelligent.”
I sit back, hands folded behind my head, eyes gazing skyward, and wonder: Is this information that will ever penetrate the mental force-fields of the crazed, PDS-suffering, Luddites on the Left?
I cannot disagree that she speaks unlike a normal politician... OK, one more time with feeling... What’s the problem again?
I kind of like using phrases like holy moly if the context calls for it. Why not?
Sarah doesn’t do that because she’s stupid. She does it because she enjoys it. As well she might.
Obama, on the other hand, can’t string together a whole sentence without resorting to his teleprompters. As for Joe Biden. . . .
Fixed it for you! She's not from Nu Yawk, don'tcha know!

I agree. I wish she would slow down and... some Maggie Thatcher lessons perhaps.
I support her and believe she'd make a great president; but, her speaking is her weakest point. Unfortunately, today, that's important.
We could compare her writing with Obamas. Oh, wait. Nothing Obama has EVER written has ever been released to the public.
Barak Obama’s writing was forwaded to be analyzed. Based on the sample looked at, the score indicated that Obama has not yet graduated kindergarden. It seems there was nothing to analyze.
Holy buckets!
All Obama knows, he learned in Kindergarden!
Hemmingway probably wrote at a 7th grade level.
He despised authors who used words that people had to look up.
it was determined that a college professor named William Ayres wrote it.
and this without the help of a ghost writer and a teleprompter..
I'm from MN and she sounds perfectly normal to me. But then a San Francisco lisp or a New Yawk angry accent sounds downright "foreign" to me.
