ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- After a second day of a lobbying blitz and propelled by Gov. Andrew Cuomo's personal buttonholing of GOP senators, a measure to legalize gay marriage in New York drew to within one vote of passing, with at least two more Republicans still undecided.
On Tuesday, a second Republican senator said he would support Cuomo's same-sex marriage bill, less than two years after he was part of a GOP-led defeat of a similar bill that dealt a blow to the national effort to legalize gay marriage.

Civilization continues it’s slide into the muck.
I am shocked... OK not really.
Just wow-— my ex-home state has become a cesspool of corruption to its core. GIGO.
If you know anyone in Staten Island, I heard this is the senator who is still deciding:
Andrew Lanza (24, Staten Island) (518) 455-3215
Please email him now, and call him tomorrow.
N.Y. and Calif, forget it, they’re both done....
It is what it is. here, But they only have control here. Rinos are on the extinction list.
This is why I am a conservative and NOT a Republican.
I agree. Wondering if the Mexicans will take NY along with CA in lieu of some of the SW states.
yep. about 3 or 4 GOPers up there .... that if they don’t get a primary challenge, they need a Conservative Party opponent. Just to give the conservatives somebody to vote for.
THe reason we have 3rd parties is for these kind of dirtbags.
“Sen. Roy McDonald of Saratoga County (upstate) announced he would vote for gay marriage
Fellow GOP Sens. Mark Grisanti of Erie County and Stephen Saland of Poughkeepsie said they were undecided on the issue.
The effort, organized by Cuomo, drew three Democratic senators and one Republican, Sen. James Alesi of Monroe County (upstate, Rochester), to the cause on Monday.”
What is the point of same-sex marriage? If marriage is everything, then it’s nothing. So why have marriage at all. Same sex marriage is NOT about “diversity”—it’s about same-ness.
The reason WHY we created such an institution of opposite sex marriage, was about paternity and continuity and child rearing. You want to celebrate and reward heterosexual monogamy so you know who the father of the babies is and so he takes care of them because he knows he’s the father.
Today’s law is garbage and that’s why same-sex marriage now makes sense to some people-—because marriage law is such a joke and unwed mothers can also get child support.
People run to the church to get married in big, expensive white weddings, then run to the State for divorce.....and basically the government unconstitutionally nullifies the marriage contract by no-fault divorce.....a woman can divorce a man and take the children they made in good faith and make him pay her child support—all with no “fault”....so it’s not ONLT “no fault divorce” but also no fault custody and child support—all unconstitutional.
Then the ex-wife gets the big child tax credit as well as does the unwed mother-——
But the divorced husband of “no fault” divorce has to prove himself innocent every month by paying child support-——and so does the father of the illegit child—and neither one even gets a tax deduction for paying child support!
People can get married and divorced and married and divorced or they can live together without being married—and there’s no longer any laws against sodomy or cohabitation...so really, one can understand why some think same sex marriage is no big deal-—until you realize that same-sex marriage undermines the whole reason why government marries people of the opposite sex—ie, because the laws were meant to say that marriage was “good” but homosexuality and cohabitation were bad.
Ironically, gay couples used to be let alone to cohabitate if they stayed discreet and quiet about their private sexual behavior, whereas opposite sex people living together was illegal or frowned upon as being irresponsible.
When did liberals decide that marriage is NOT “just a piece of paper”? If they think marriage is so important, then why not go back to having REAL marriage under the law—where government ENFORCES the marriage contract and you ONLY get ONE marriage and that’s it?
But if marriage doesn’t mean anything, then how could gay marriage mean something—and why not just get rid of marriage and let people define marriage for themselves and draw up their own contracts and arrangments.
What is the PUBLIC purpose for marriage under the law? What PUBLIC interest does government have for marrying gays instead of just enforcing “tolerance” of private behavior. MARRIAGE IS BOTH LEGAL AND PUBLIC—so let’s stop pretending that same sex marriage is about private behavior...

Amen.
This is why there must be a Federal Marriage Amendment.
If you look at it from the Marxist point of view it's very important. The traditional family is the backbone of any society. Destroy that and it's only a matter of time before the collapse. Look at all our beloved dictator in the WH is doing; pushing us to economic ruin, skyrocketing energy costs, home ownership becoming a thing of the past and now the end of marriage as we know it. You can't tell me there isn't a plan in mind and that it's all coincidental. Soros and the one world government through his puppet Soetoro is systematically dismantling this country. </tinfoil hat>
