Proper English would be “if it WERE me”. Always use the subjective tense after the proposition “if”.
What an idiot. Obviously he doesn’t have the education, or the smarts, for the job. What kind of school did he attend, anyway? And that odd accent and form of speech he uses. It’s obvious that he is “not one of us” and isn’t qualified to be “present”.
