One of the many frustrating aspects of the political scene is that most young people have been voting for Democrats, even as the Democrats sell them down the river, mortgaging their future to pay off today's constituencies. By the time our children are stuck with the bill, with interest, liberals like Anthony Weiner, Barney Frank and Barack Obama will be long gone.
But these poll data suggest that some youngsters who voted for Obama in 2008 may be sadder but wiser today:
A new poll found that a majority of younger voters disapprove of President Obama's handling of the economy.
Well, so do we all. But there is more.
Young people made up about 18 percent of the electorate in 2008, and Obama won this age bracket by 34 percentage points. The president will be hard-pressed to do that again in 2012.
Forty-four percent of respondents disapprove of the president's handling of youth unemployment while only 31 percent approved....
Unemployment among young people, including college graduates, is stratospheric.
Seventy-seven percent of poll respondents are delaying major life changes due to economic restraints while 27 percent said that they were delaying going back to school or entering professional training programs.
In many instances, "delaying major life changes due to economic restraints" means not moving out of Dad's basement. Today's younger generation may or may not have a future; that's the bad news. The good news is that most of them realize that, and a large percentage understand that economic growth of the sort that can only come from a vibrant free market is their only hope.
How am I supposed to know what you mean?
My young son, age mid 30’s, works on the SONY movie lot and I fear he probably voted for Obama. However yesterday we had a great conversation and he is extremely worried about his son and the state of our economy. He commented that he liked a lot of what Ron Paul is saying...now I am not a Ron Paul fan, but far be it for me not to have him start looking at the Repub field. Thus I sent him Herman Cain’s website to look at and and talked about several of the candidates. My take is that he will not be an Obama voter this time. I do believe some of the younger generation are seeing the light.
>I would like to believe the author’s conclusions but I have seen no evidence that the younger generations have wised up.<
May I suggest a youtube group of young people for you to revive yourself with?

They give me some hope
Obama will have them post-nataly aborted.
Personally, my daughter once said on facebook that she used to think I was just paranoid but now that she is old enough to see for herself, she realizes I was telling her the truth.
Moral: don't quit trying, FR parents, you never know which lesson will plant the seed that takes root.
No.
That isn’t why at all, it is a conservative generation, a generation that volunteered by the many millions for military service, making the Vietnam War something different, a war of mostly volunteers instead of the draftees that fought WWII. They are the generation that became the Reagan generation, and carry on his legacy today.
By the way McGovern would without question have instantly stopped the war and done everything else the left likes, McGovern would win the 18 to 29 year old vote today.
Also, the people old enough to be leaders in the 1960s would not be in that 18-29 age group of 1972, with a very few exceptions.
The only age groups that voted for Obama was the under 44 age group in 2008, that means the age groups born after 1964.
They've always been wiser than many people think. The question should be: Are the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms finally falling flat on their faces in their relentless effort to portray a handful of college Trotsky Club goofballs as representative of American "young people"?
Bullshyte.

Don't need no Weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
"For the bombing of the Pentagon on May 19, 1972, they stated it was "in retaliation for the US bombing raid in Hanoi." For the January 29, 1975 bombing of the United States Department of State Building, they stated it was "in response to escalation in Vietnam."[4]"

I don’t know what those photos were supposed to be, but the left lost the iron grip on this nation that they had before that generation reached the age to get involved in leadership in the late 1980s to the present.
If you want radical liberalism look to the 66% vote for Obama from the 18-29 year olds, not the Republican voters.
Conservatives actually have a voice in America now, something that we did not have before the late 80s or early 90s. That does not mean that liberalism isn’t rampant, but that the worst legislation in American history is in the distant past the 30s, 40, 50s, 60s, 70s, it is not recent, and will not be in the near future, frankly we conservatives often win victories today, and even manage to roll some things back, like the gun laws from the distant generations.
You are just rambling, Patty Hearst led nothing, she was a victim.
Charles Manson was almost 40 in the 1972 election.
Like I said most of the leaders of the 1960s were already out of the 18-29 age group by 1972, not all, but the great majority.
By 1972, the majority of the 18-29 year olds were boomers, they accounted for the 8 year olds to 26 year olds by 1972.
Thank you! Encouraging post :)
This woman is waaaaay too old to be naive!!!
Of course you don't -- because Useful Idiot "fithcally conthervative" RINOtards like you STILL refuse to acknowledge the systemic demoralization that was rendered by your "conthervative" generation.
"What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country. It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first stage being "demoralization".It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism...."--KGB Defector Yuri Bezmenov, circa 1984
