Remember when airline travel was something to get dressed up for? Remember when women wore corsets? Ah, those were the days!

You need to be creative with the use of euphemisms... like wazoo aperture... and you have to be more than feeble minded to toss the occasional euphemism creatively... like bovine processed feed grains instead of the famous Harkin barnyard epithet. :)

That’s the problem with stories like this. Nobody believes the story presented by Big Media anymore, so we don’t know what went on so we just project our own attitudes and prejudices onto the story and end up insulting each other.

I didn't see my post as insulting anyone - just reading between the lines and using common sense. I think the general tenor of most of the posts on this thread was that a large part of the story (ie. the other side) was missing.

Compare the language on democratic underground to FR. Liberals take pride in being scum.

Corsets are not necessary to dress nicely.

When they show the inflight movie, loaded with profanity, will they turn the plane around then, too? Only if the earphones are offended. Don't want to hear it, don't listen. The same can not be said for someone saying something offensive out loud.

Agreed. And anyway, I’m okay with this.
It’s simple: stupid use of profanity in a public place toward someone doing their job is an indication of belligerance that it is often appropriate to address.

Remember when airline travel was something to get dressed up for?I started traveling in 1966 after I joined the Marine Corps and flew military standby many times coast to coast.
I always had to wear my dress uniform - not cammos like they do today.
Later, I traveled a lot for my civilian job and I think the early 80s was when the standard started dropping.
Getting on some flights these days reminds me of third world bus passengers.

People are so unused to the idea of authority that it’s a good reminder sometimes that, yes, there are situations where SOMEONE IS IN CHARGE. And, you have to do it their way.
Pilots and attendants both know the signs of a passenger who may become a problem. They may not always make the right call, but I’m all for an emphasis on civil language as one path toward increasing public civility in general.

I used intuitive logic which has provided many, many, accurate conclusions in the past. If that bothers you.....well, you'll get over it.

I was flying out of NYC last week. We had just left the gate when some joker decided to throw up all over a couple seats in the back. He admitted to drinking all day without eating.
The idiot across the aisle from me ranted for the next 4 hours. Even while they made us deplane so they could clean up the bio-hazard.
A lot of what happens isn’t the airlines fault and cussing at them doesn’t help anyone.
