What I find shocking, is that he KNEW what other damaging info was out there, and he was willing to risk it to hold onto political office/power. Just like Arnold ran for Governor a few years after he conceived a child with someone other than his wife, as did John Edwards do the same during a national election. Why aren’t these people concerned that they may be found out?

Shame is an alien concept, particularly when morals don't mean anything. In this case he knew what was out there but was perfectly willing to let it ride out seeing if he could mitigate the damage with doublespeak and snazzy press conferences. It's a horrible situation all around. He's a sleaze. His wife is going to get absolutely hounded by the press when she gets back (which she may deserve for other aspects of her life, but not this.) And lastly, there are people that actually buy that he's remorseful and genuine in his attempt to enter therapy.
