After putting his pregnant wife through days of humiliation and embarrassing his party by stubbornly refusing to resign in the midst of a sordid sexting scandal, the shamed congressman is believed to be finally considering stepping down.

The claim came as shocking new photos emerged last night of the New York Democrat - clothed and partially nude at the House Members Gym - which he allegedly sent to at least one woman.

The photographs have piled fresh pressure on Weiner, who this weekend revealed he was going into rehab but - so far - has refused to stand down, despite mounting calls to do so from his own party leaders.

The new images will also provide fresh agony for his pregnant wife Huma Abedin , who is currently in Ethiopia with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

What I find shocking, is that he KNEW what other damaging info was out there, and he was willing to risk it to hold onto political office/power. Just like Arnold ran for Governor a few years after he conceived a child with someone other than his wife, as did John Edwards do the same during a national election. Why aren’t these people concerned that they may be found out?

Shame is an alien concept, particularly when morals don't mean anything. In this case he knew what was out there but was perfectly willing to let it ride out seeing if he could mitigate the damage with doublespeak and snazzy press conferences. It's a horrible situation all around. He's a sleaze. His wife is going to get absolutely hounded by the press when she gets back (which she may deserve for other aspects of her life, but not this.) And lastly, there are people that actually buy that he's remorseful and genuine in his attempt to enter therapy.
