The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of American Culture
David Mamet made a stir in 2008 with his Village Voice essay, “Why I Am No Longer a Brain-Dead Liberal.” This book is a fuller, wittier, and more scathing treatment of the same subject—a liberal screenwriter who has “seen the light.”
Mamet has a new book out about how he became a Conservative. I’m in the queue for it at the library.
He meets with sowell and is a big fan.
This is where the Pubbies should concentrate their campaign. Bambi has been a total failure even for the completely far left kooks. Of course they won't vote (R) anyway but they might just stay home and hit the bong one more time.
Note to Pubbie Politicians: This should be on every billboard in the country. It should be your talking points until the election. Unfortunately a lot of you (Pubbie Politicians) don't/won't get it.
Both I read, both are excellent. Similar themes, very different writers, different experiences...Coulter references the French Revolution to successful effect.
I love e-books!!!
Hard working person of honor ping.
But what Mamet and Palin fans really want to know is...does she get the coffee and the Eldorado?
>Why, if he so loves small-town America and its values, does he live in the liberal enclave of Los Angeles? “There is a lot of work. My wife works there,”<
Same here. I’m in the “biz” here in L.A. and my GF is on the top of her profession working at Cedars Sinai. We may be surrounded by idiot liberals but they cant and WONT wear us down with their nonsense.
I’m not quite sure where I stand with this guy. If he’s genuine, my congrats on him seeing the light.

Good read! Thanks for posting it.
A Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright loves Sarah Palin; that tells me that more than just Tea Partiers love Sarah. The Ladies on The View, Katie Couric and Rachel Madcow will love to report this news; I’m sure.
Great post, a very interesting article.
LOL, Mamet is making their heads explode.
I’m loving it!
The Unit is excellent. This was one show that I never consistently watched, because we were always watching something else. But I would catch up with it during re-runs.
There was a story arc, spoiler alert maybe so stop reading if you need to. I didn’t really get the whole story, but Mamet’s real-life wife Rebecca Pigeon played the wife of the unit’s commander and she had gone rogue, so to speak.
She was just evil, she was selling The Unit down the river, but all the while she had the wives of the guys totally fooled.
Ohmygoodness, she was EVIL. And she was GREAT!
I am going, eventually, to get this entire series on DVD and just watch it all, so I can watch her again.
She was SO BAD and you could NOT take your eyes off her.
The best evil villainess since the great Angela Lansbury in The Manchurian Candidate.
Also, rarely mentionaed but also great “The Spanish Prisoner”. A nice Mamet piece without all the f-bombs.
It is great to have Mr. Mamet on our side.
And if Ms. Pigeon is with us also...well, we can only hope!
We need more like this guy if we want to save the country.
Mamet’s “The Edge” is one of my favorite movies.
Even Alec Baldwin doesn’t ruin it!
“The first time I met Tennessee Williams,” he recalls, “he showed up at a party in Chicago with two beautiful young boys who were obviously rough trade. He looked at them and then he looked at me and he said, ‘Expensive habit.’”
“I wonder what might have happened if he had picked up John Maynard Keynes instead of Friedman.”
Both remarks by the author weren’t linked in the article but there actually is a relationship in a strange way...

Thanks, great post.
He’s quite the apostate, and one of the most difficult for them to challenge. I predict they’ll simply ignore him as if he was never their Adonis.
