My dad and uncles, both being Nam vets, said Westmoreland could have ended that war if he had his way.
If I recall correctly, the North Vietnamese were about to go to the table for peace talks then the US called off the bombing of the North.

as an ironic insight and a little known fact....I spent some time back then chasing Russian helicopters on the Cambodian border believed to be operated by the Chinese....
