The Cedar Falls, Iowa city council voted to take the keys of residents to enter their businesses and some residential properties for the sake of "security." This is clearly government in over-reach mode and is unconstitutional. The next meeting is set for June 13th.
This is a joke, right?
But we do not own Property! The Government is the Landlord.
Why don't they just have the local police just go out and shoot all the dogs?
The Dunkin’ Donuts folks are probably terrified.
Since the article doesn’t say let me guess... Democrats?
All your stuff are belong to us.
Install combo locks and do not give them the combos.
If this is the case, then it isn't the residents property in the first place then is it....
If this is NOT a joke, I would hope the next report I hear is about tar and featherings (with pitchforks and torches on display for good measure). And EVERY citizen packing so the local LEO's didn't get uppity.
Here we go.
Ostensibly it’s about “commercial property” (which includes some apartment houses, not just places of business) for the sake of easier entry by fire fighters and paramedics.
I think it ought to be up to the residents of rental housing and the owners of other businesses, if they wish to furnish master keys to the fire department. And the fire department should keep the keys on their trucks or at their stations.
Don’t give them any ideas!
Unbelievable.
Ok forgive me for being cynical but, is this smirking idiot Kamyar Ensyhayan a muslim?
Local fire departments probably already had access to lock-boxes containing commercial building keys. Cops should call the fire department if they want in during an emergency.
1) And everyone knows that no government employee ever stole anything and sold it for money. Imagine how much such keys would be worth to robbers, rapists, etc.
2) What happens when the police/FBI/EPA/some other officious governmental alimeball shows up to get the key to conduct a warrantless search of the premises? For the public good, of course. I imagine the government would start with fire inspections as an opening wedge, since the FD already has the keys.
