A former Massachusetts governor popped up in the thousands of e-mails released Friday detailing the day-to-day pressures of Alaska’s former top executive.
In 2008, a Palin press aide sent her an essay about Jane Swift, the onetime governor of Massachusetts, who also had small children while in office. Palin replied with a barb about a recent column by an Anchorage Daily News writer.
“Pls remind Julia Omalley that ‘they’ said the same thing throughout my career — ‘too young,’ ‘pregnant,’ ‘kids’ ... ‘She won’t be able to do it,’ ” Palin wrote. “This coming from good ol’ boys who don’t like change. ... And so far along in my career we’ve proved them wrong at each turn.”
Swift was roundly criticized for using staff to babysit her children and for using a state police helicopter to get to her home in Western Massachusetts.
A few hours later, Palin followed up with another e-mail to the aide:
“What poor decisions she made there. Please, just shoot me if you ever see me travel such a road.”

During her short governorship, she received a lot of bad press for how she handled the job. In particular, she had taken a state police helicopter to her western Mass. home from the state house on the Friday before a holiday weekend, when the roads were jammed with traffic.
I don't think Palin really slams Jane Swift personally in the email but lets her staff know to not let her do anything as stupid as having staff babysit her kids.
However, unlike Palin, Jane Swift was definitely in over her head with respect to running a state.
I thought she was quite efficient in getting her name put on all the road signs welcoming folks into the state. :)

Apparently so. They are scratching the bottom of the barrel this Sunday morning. It appears that Sarah using the word “sheesh” in one of the 25,000+ emails was the highlight of their weekend.

These type emails will doom Sarah Palin.

How come NBC NEWS is rarely mentioned as having made the formal request for Sarh Palin’s e-mails?
Why do we allow liberals to set the standards?
Swift’s and Christie’s use of a state helicopter were simply clubs used by liberals to bash Republicans.
When liberal governors use those same helicopters, it is not even mentioned in the media.
I am sick of our side caving-in to liberal lunacy.
Take the issue and slam them with it. Agree with liberals and eliminate all state-owned helicopters. If they did not exist, the temptation would not be there to use them.

Rank has it’s privileges(RIP). General’s fly around in choppers and even jets. Colonels, who command a separate Brigade, have a staff car. The Governor of a state is the CIC of the National Guard. Who cares if the Gov rides around in this or that in state. In state beats flying all over the world on vacations.
If you were a true conservative, you would care.
The state does not need to waste my money on a helicopter, maintenance and multiple crew salaries (and pensions) so the governor can get places easily.
That can be accomplished by the private sector. Let the state hire a helicopter on those few occasions where they need it.
If the governor wants to be with family or avoid traffic, they can hire a helicopter just like you or I could hire a helicopter and pay for it out of their own pocket.
Conservative government is simple.

Wow, there must be SO NOTHING in those emails, if these are the pieces they are coming up with.
I wouldn’t describe what she said as being a “slam” at all. Clearly those WERE bad decisions and Palin tells the aide: don’t ever let me do that.
I saw a headline on, I think it was “legal insurection” something like “michigan not mentioned in Palin emails”
I’m too lazy to check, but it was something like that, real “bottom story of the day” material.
They’ve really made monkeys out of themselves with this.
