WASHINGTON Legal experts across the political spectrum predict Texas new law requiring a photo ID to vote could run into resistance from the U.S. Justice Department.
But some speculate that the Obama administration will ultimately set aside any objections and OK the law to avoid a fight that might....

Tactics. If they take the matter to the USSC and lose then they do not have any legal way to resist other states from doing the same thing. They could only threaten procedural and financial penalties for passing such laws.
The admin is going to go after blue states. Just like the soviet union not allowing anyone to leave. They need to hold those votes.
Of course the Obama administration will let it go, Texas is not a toss up state, it’s a red state..................
For now. There's uncontrolled immigration and breeding... Soon.
Wisconsin, a purple state trending conservative (red) also just passed voter ID, as well as North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina.
This is a result of the GOP sweep at the state level.
they will probably approve the one that does not require proof of citizenship
This is further PROOF that the Department of Justice is 100% politicized in this administration.
Challenging the Texas Voter ID law gains Obama nothing politcally.
But, the Texas Voter ID law will be a great political football that can be used by liberals to energize hispanic voters.
If that was a winning hand, Democrats wouldn't fight voter ID tooth and nail. So it would seem that there have more fraudulent votes (I mean, really, who doesn't have a picture ID? - these states will even PROVIDE one, at taxpayer's expense)....more fraudulent votes for Democrats than "outraged" voters flocking to vote for Democrats. It costs the Democratic Party less from their campaign coffers to perpetrate a fraud than round up legit voters and get them riled and then to the voting booth (what a bother when fraud is so much simpler, cheaper and more reliable).
Of course they fight it. It shows how much they care for their illegal friends.
And it helps to provide cover for liberal fraud---I agree.
The Texas Voter ID law will be used to energize hispanics in blue states --- not red states. Obama is weak in those areas and needs to hold them.
That is the tactic here.

Since when does 0bama get to ‘OK’ any law passed by a State legislature? Keep giving him the inch and he’ll inevitably take the mile.
I believe the Feds (Holder) would challenge it on ‘64 Voting Rights Act grounds, the noose that they’ve kept around the neck of any state that historically denied blacks the right to vote.
However, with the mood about illegals being prominent and Perry having been very visible about requesting border security, challenging voter ID in TX would not play well nationally for Obama.
That can cut both ways.
Thanks Cincinatus’ Wife. Good thread.
The Supreme Court has already upheld a voter ID law from Indiana. So the concept of voter ID already passes legal muster from the courts.
No, but he DICTATES who the Department of Justice goes after, e.g. Arizona.
