The backstory on Weiner’s implosion
So the Democratic leadership has called on Anthony Weiner to resign, in the wake of news that he had connected with a 17 year old girl through social media. The family has claimed that nothing was untoward, but suddenly, a fusillade of statements came from Dem leaders today demanding he resign.
Here’s what happened, according to a senior Democratic aide. Nancy Pelosi had been privately urging Weiner to resign and seek treatment for days, the aide says. But he told her today that he would take a temporary leave of absence and seek treatment. Once she heard that, she released a statement calling on him to resign.
“Congressman Weiner has the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents, and the recognition that he needs help,” Pelosi’s statement said. “I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a Member of Congress.”
Similar statements came out today fromChris Van Hollen and DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
My understanding is that Pelosi and other Dem leaders were angry with Weiner because he lied to them, publicly and privately. After the news of the first Tweet broke, he privately assured Dem leaders that he had been hacked and that there was nothing to the story, I’m told.

What a brilliant plan. The RAT leadership demands that he resign because he is sucking the oxygen out of the room and harming their ability to tell lies and scare people. So they collectively call for his resignation. Stretch face suggests he needs treatment and needs to work on saving his family. He goes away to rehab, gets off the front page, and comes back a new man.
Then, behind the scenes, he continues tweeting his junk, this time in private.
Boy, oh boy, oh boy! Democrats are angry because another Democrat LIED to them. Rep. Weiner was Pelosi's DL (designated liar) picked to go out on every network and lie to the American People. So, Pelosi is p-o'ed that Weiner was consistent, he lies. He lies to everyone. He lies when he says "I told the truth".
Is Pelosi mad at Barack Obama, who lies to such a degree that his lieing stimulated an outburst by a Member of Congress at Obama's speech in Congress. Obama lies so egregiously that it stimulated a sitting Justice of the Supreme Court to mouth "not true" at another Obama speech in front of Congress.
No, like the Mafia, you must lie to the outsiders, but don't lie to your fellow Mafia.

“I saw this on FNC and CNN today. My thoughts are more that this is a big Democrat scam, Pelosi says publically she wants Wiener to resign while privately telling him to ‘go away’ into ‘treatment’ (Treatment ???? LOL) until the MSM moves on to something else, like the Ryan plan.”
This was my first thought also. First comes leaks that B. Clinton & Obama say resign; then comes Debbie DNC; then Pelosi reverses her edict.
ONLY then, does the Weiner announce he is going into rehab. I highly doubt he is going to defy these top Dems; he risks the new plum job that would await him (a fallen party faithful), ala Van Jones (who wasn’t really shunned; he was just repositioned out of sight to further the cause).
Weiner isn’t defiant now; he is submissive. These degenerates want to try to save his seat for now, cover themselves, and see how the wind blows. If it doesn’t work out, they can always say, We called for him to resign, and then, if the plan doesn’t work, put real pressure on him to resign. Win/win for them, and it’s the only deal that Weiner has if he wants to stay in politics.
If that plan doesn’t work out, the alternative plum job awaits him for following orders.
It was the 17 year old that was the problem, adults can be excused, but sending it to an under aged teen, gets you in BIG hot water.
A shame he wasn't caught on MSNBC ‘To Catch a Predator’. Some of those idiots caught on that show actually took their clothes off unknowingly on camera.
See, the MSM loves a good story and Weiner is giving them a good one.
