Is Perry the One?

"What Republicans need is a candidate who is unabashedly conservative across the board, a savvy campaigner who does not make stupid mistakes, someone with no skeletons anywhere, a proven government executive who would hit the ground running as president, and a candidate who could very quickly and almost bloodlessly win the Republican nomination.
Governor Perry is perfect for this mission. Consider the five criteria I listed. Is Perry conservative? He is a social and a fiscal conservative with a very long track record of walking the walk as well as talking the talk. In the fiscal area, think of Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie on steroids. Unlike members of Congress, who have stray votes which could offend conservatives, Rick Perry has no blemishes at all.
Moreover, Perry is aggressively conservative. On June 7, Perry called for a special legislative session to abolish sanctuary cities. On June 9, Perry asks fellow governors to join with him for a national day of prayer. His book, Fed Up! Our Fight to Save America from Washington takes on squarely the leftist mania for implementing national policies in areas properly the province of state governments. "

Hes the stop Romney candidate. Agree on that, would hurt Romney more than anybody else, minimal effect on true conservative voters, (Tea Party Sarah voters).

The article say that Perry "grew up a Democrat, won election as a Democrat, and Perry was even the State Chairman for Al Gore in 1988."

On a side note, while Perry is not the perfect candidate, I sometimes wonder when true freepers are going to stop pointing out why each Republican is wrong for the job and get busy finding out who is right for the job. Because at some point we are going to have to start pointing out what the hell is WRONG with ODUMBO. Just saying...
Hell yes I would vote for Perry, Rommney, Palin, even Ron Paul before I would continue to bitch about what is wrong with every candidate. The 100% owned liberal media will do its job for the beer summit king...do we really have to help them!

There ain't nothing wrong with trying to get the best weapon possible for the coming battle to save the country and it will be a battle before and after the election.
I believe Sarah Palin is the best weapon for the job.
You may not like the terms weapon and battle I used, but stand back and look at the shape of our country right now.
It's probably the most important election in our history, if it goes wrong there'll be no coming back.

Is Perry the one? Hell no!. The last thing the GOP and America need is another Texas governor.
To: MestaMachine
I don’t think so. Rick and Sarah are pretty close. They speak on a regular basis. Quite a few analysists believe that Rick won’t run if Sarah does.

Perry did not call a special session to abolish sanctuary cities. The special session was called because the Democrats filibustered the budget. Perry just added sanctuary cities to the session because he knew it would look good on his resume and because he knew that the sanctuary cities bill being pushed by Texas Republicans doesn't have any teeth--it makes a statement but doesn't actually do anything.
Of course "makes a statement but doesn't actually do anything" pretty accurately sums up Perry's style of governing. He talks like a conservative but seldom backs up that talk with real action. He's a master of verbal slight-of-hand. He gets everybody talking about his sanctuary cities bill so that nobody's looking at the fact that he supported in-state tuition for illegal immigrants. He gets everybody talking about his day of prayer so that nobody's looking at the fact that he issued an executive order requiring sixth-grade girls to be inoculated against a sexually transmitted disease. He gets everybody talking about the fact that he said Texans might someday want to secede from the union so that nobody's looking at the fact that he folded like a cheap suit as soon as the TSA started talking tough about a Republican-backed "anti-groping" bill (which he now refuses to add to the special session). He gets everybody talking about how he (supposedly) shot a coyote (that nobody ever found) on an Austin jogging trail so that nobody notices that he let the Democrats (in a legislature that's 2/3 Republican) block a popular (supported by 90% of Republicans) gun rights bill (which he now refuses to add to the special session).
Perry is a moderate who wants to look conservative, as long as that's what the voters want to see. If and when he runs, he'll play an uber-conservative during the primaries and a moderate alternative to Barack Obama during the general election. And if elected, he'll be whatever the highest bidder wants him to be.

Yikes...the article suggests that he pick Eric Cantor as his running mate...LOL!
Fear not...I don’t think Perry will get in unless Sarah decides not to run. I think they are pretty friendly. I didn’t like Perry very much years ago..but he has gotten better over the years imho. He came to some of the very first Tea Parties here in Texas when none of the other politicos would touch us with a ten foot pole...that impressed me. He was a good speaker and really fired up the crowd. That said....he doesn’t stand a chance of even winning Texas if Sarah jumps in. Texas is Palin Country!
I truly believe that God is in control and guiding Sarah and protecting her. The suspense is almost too much to bear though. I want her to run so bad it almost is too depressing to think of her deciding not to.
I’d like to see a Palin/West ticket myself....but Palin/Perry will do just fine too. Texas and Alaska are leading the way back towards fiscal sanity and state’s rights. Both have the highest employment rates in the country right now. They could make an unbeatable duo.

George Bush was not conservative enough. Moreover, he never stated the conservative message, which is even more important.

Ask a few Texas conservatives what they think of Rick Perry.O.K. I am one. Considering all the other candidates and yet-to-be-announced candidates, my vote will definitely go to Perry. Yes, he has made mistakes (the backing of the land grab for his TTC idea, his intrusion into parental responsibilities with his mandatory injections of minors, his democrat supporting history, his overall stance on illegal immigration matters (as compared to Arizona and Alabama), etc do not make him anything but a politician. His overall history of being a conservative (Texas being the best job creator in America, strong backing of the 10th & 2nd Amendments, successful business man, good management of state spending priorities, etc) has put him at the top of my list. Texas is a weak Governor state and much of the state's success belongs to his Lt. Governor and the majority rule of Republicans in both the Senate and House. It has been Perry that has fostered this success and signed good, conservative bills into law. The replacement of Perry by Lt. Gov. Dewhurst would be a welcome replacement. Perry would be an excellent President (or even vice-president)in this life-long Texas voters opinion.

I am a Texas Conservative and I WOULD hold my nose and vote for Rick Perry; however, I can't say the same for Mitt Romney. If Romney is the GOP candidate, I will vote third party.
Perry has not been the best conservative in the world, immigration has been his Achilles heel, but overall he has done little harm, which is a big positive for any politician.
