Issa schedules second Gunrunner, Fast and Furious hearing

Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican and chairman of the House Oversight Committee, announced details for the second in what he said will be a series of hearings on Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious. The hearing, set for Wednesday June 15, will examine “reckless decisions” and “tragic outcomes” as a result of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) programs.
In Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious, ATF officials who reported to President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ) allowed guns to be taken into Mexico via “straw purchasers,” or people who were eligible to purchase guns in the U.S. but were doing so with the known intention of trafficking them into Mexico. The ultimate goal, apparently, was to attempt to track the larger Mexican drug cartels’ gun market.

Next Wednesday’s hearing witnesses, according to an Oversight Committee release, will include Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, ATF agents, Justice Department officials and family members of dead Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Two AK47’s the ATF was tracking in Operation Fast and Furious were found at the scene of Terry’s death.
“The reckless decisions of ATF and Justice Department officials in Operation Fast and Furious have devastated lives and put fear into communities on both sides of the border,” Issa said in a statement. “By exploring this Justice Department sanctioned program, we can better understand the flawed process surrounding the genesis and implementation of an operation that put guns into the hands of criminals.”

I'm not sure if your pessimism is justified. Other scandals didn't happen with the economy in the toilet and getting worse, and this administration has a number of scandals and blunders. Folks will fall on their swords for Obama, but I'll be surprised if Issa doesn't try to remove Holder & Hillary. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing? Issa will look like a fool if he doesn't.

Sandy Berger tapped Breuer to represent him when he got caught stealing classified documents and hiding them in his socks and under construction trailers.
President Obama selected Breuer to head the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice two days after the inauguration.

Holder is dead on the water, he will have to fall on the sword to protect Obama. Have you noticed how little information has come out of the White house regarding all of this? It shows me that they don;t want to say anything that will be used against them later. They are in deep now that it came out and are trying to distance themselves as much as they can.
Somebody has to have discussed that intention along the way. The ATF field agents in Phoenix were certainly asking "WTF is this about?" because they couldn't think of any rational purpose for walking guns. Which resulted in the rebuke from higher up that "if you don't find this fun you can find another job."
If enough people are deposed it might get to one who will testify that he was told expressly that undermining the 2nd Amend. was the purpose of F&F. That revelation would be bigger than dynamite.

No one who is going to testify or be deposed would ever have that kind of intimate knowledge I bet. That would have been a decision talked about by only about 4 people. HRC, BHO, Holder and Napolitano.
They would have treated everyone under those positions as peons - do your job or find another. I doubt that it will ever get to the point like that. But what we will get is a bunch of people putting pieces together and a bunch of statements from others that can make the link between the two. The program and the intent to ram further gun control down our throats by this administration.
It will be circumstantial but along with the other hard evidence of criminal conspiracy that they come up with along the way it is going to put a kink in Obama’s colon
I think Munz is right that only 3 or 4 people had that direct knowledge. However, Holder is a punk. If a Special Prosecutor can get him facing hard time, I’d bet the farm he would spill his guts and take the others down too.
Of course, we will never know that. The deal will be they step down, no jail time and keep their pensions and other benefits. Holder does no time but gets disbarred. It will all be hushed up.
That being said, the key is getting an honest special prosecutor named and properly funded. My first choices for the job would be Tom Fitten or Mark Levin.
You're probably right about that. We can hope though. 0bama and his minions haven't shown themselves to be the brightest bulbs and they have shown an amazing level of arrogance. The MSM has let them get away with a lot.
They are already lining up for a special prosecutor I bet. Holder will go on the hot seat. But I don;t know if he will give up the Marxist in chief or not even if he does face jail time.
The good thing is that there are a lot of congressional hearings going on now since the GOP took control of the house. They are investigating everything from gnwalker to the take over of GM.
As much as i would love to see Obama, Holder, HRC and Napolitano go to jail for what they have done, I think that the gop will be quite happy to force them to toss the ‘12 election and retake the senate while holding the presidency and congress.
There is just too much corruption and then there is the fact that there were such outcries for hanging Bush for “war crimes” from the left, i bet that the gop will fear reprisals in the future.
Sure, I'd buy that. The trick will be getting him in that corner. Both 0bama and Holder are busy right now identifying exactly who has info that would stick and how to neutralize them and/or the info. But they are each on each the other's list so it could get interesting.

We all know she's a slippery one with brains of Jell-0 but will her luck hold out forever? She skated by the skin of her teeth several times while hubby Slick was in office. Just one evidentiary break could finally end her lucky streak.
Likewise, a lucky break finding a memo or e-mail to/from Holder or 0bama could nail them.
