Issa schedules second Gunrunner, Fast and Furious hearing

Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican and chairman of the House Oversight Committee, announced details for the second in what he said will be a series of hearings on Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious. The hearing, set for Wednesday June 15, will examine “reckless decisions” and “tragic outcomes” as a result of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) programs.
In Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious, ATF officials who reported to President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ) allowed guns to be taken into Mexico via “straw purchasers,” or people who were eligible to purchase guns in the U.S. but were doing so with the known intention of trafficking them into Mexico. The ultimate goal, apparently, was to attempt to track the larger Mexican drug cartels’ gun market.

Next Wednesday’s hearing witnesses, according to an Oversight Committee release, will include Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, ATF agents, Justice Department officials and family members of dead Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Two AK47’s the ATF was tracking in Operation Fast and Furious were found at the scene of Terry’s death.
“The reckless decisions of ATF and Justice Department officials in Operation Fast and Furious have devastated lives and put fear into communities on both sides of the border,” Issa said in a statement. “By exploring this Justice Department sanctioned program, we can better understand the flawed process surrounding the genesis and implementation of an operation that put guns into the hands of criminals.”

Story on foxnews yesterday included a detail that the ATF inserted GPS tracking devices in these guns before the sale.
They knew/know where they are. How many other firearms have these GPS devices installed?

I'd love to be wrong in my assessment, but I'm betting I'm not.

CBS News is reporting that documents obtained by Congressional investigators looking into the Project Gunrunner scandal include a wiretap authorization from Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer dated in March 2010. Read the CBS story by investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson here. Also included in documents released by investigators is a January 8, 2010 “briefing paper” on Project Gunrunner from the Phoenix, AZ field division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The documents were released earlier today as the Senate Judiciary Committee convened for an oversight hearing on the Department of Justice.
One document indicates a Holder Asst. Attorney General, Lanny Breuer, authorized a wiretap in the controversial gun trafficking case headquartered in Phoenix.
In that case, called "Fast and Furious," multiple sources say ATF allowed thousands of guns to hit the streets, destined for Mexican drug cartels.—CBS News As reported by this column today, Attorney General Eric Holder professed considerable lack of knowledge about the Gunrunner operation, and its links to the slaying of Customs and Border Protection Agent Brian Terry last December. If you ever watch video or look at pictures of the drug war in Mexico, you'll notice some pretty heavy weapons. This is a war being waged with rockets and plastic explosives, not pea shooters and Saturday Night Specials.
Consider these incidents:- A M26A2 fragmentation grenade used against a U.S. Consulate in Mexico in 2008 - Explosive projectiles and 21 grenades found during a raid in Guadalupe - An unexploded grenade and pull ring used to attack a TV station in Monterrey - Automatic weapons, including U.S.-made M16s, found at a cartel crime scene in May 2009- U.S. military-issued ammunition found in a cartel raid in Reynosa in November 2008. You can't buy this stuff at a U.S. gun store. So where do the cartels get it?
According to leaked diplomatic cables, there are three sources.
1. US Defense Department shipments to Latin America, known and tracked by the US State Department as "foreign military sales."
2. Weapons ordered by the Mexican government, tracked by the State Department as "direct commercial sales."
3. Aging, but plentiful arsenals of military weapon stores in Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
Even though these facts were well-known by the Obama administration, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Eric Holder, it blamed much of the violence in Mexico on U.S. gun stores. "More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that line our border," President Obama said in February 2009. In the border city of Reynosa a banner reads, “Former soldiers sought to form armed group; good pay, $500,” “The Zetas operations group wants you, soldier or ex-soldier.” Authorities said the signs were probably an attempt to "demoralize the soldiers and police," rather than a serious recruiting effort.

(1) plotting to become a ward of the US;
(2) faking victimization;
(3) secretly revving up internal conflicts;
(4) play-acting the ignoramus;
(5) claiming they can't "control" their enemies without US money;
(6) organizing voting blocs----exchanging votes for US cash.
It's all a big scam---illegals are being financed and coached by Third World governments. The federales are salivating to get their dirty hands on trillions in US foreign aid---and they need a voting bloc to manipulate the US govt and loot the US Treasury.

Remember when he made t eh statement that 80% of the guns used in mexico were from the USA? He was using BATF to make that a reality through the justice department.
Now Holder is on the hot seat and Issa is going to take Holder out of the picture. Without Holder there, Obama becomes vulnerable to a bunch of things that he has relied on Justice to cover for him.
Remember Justice directs FBI BATF DEA etc etc etc. They all take their direction from Holder - if he is outed, Obama is going to have a much harder time putting a new radical in charge of Justice if this pans out that Obama used the office to cover for himself.

You sir nailed it. That was the sole intent of this program. Once they turned the lie into the truth they were going to gut the Second Amendment.
Someone also tried floating trial balloon of RFID chips in those guns. Both have their attend technical problems
GPS units would require battery power that could run out before the gun reaches its destination. It would also have to transmit this data unless the idea was that it would be like tagging geese or something.
RFID would not require power but these chips have a limited interrogation range.
Moreover, both methods would require and RF view of the sky – any kind of RF shielding would block the signals making these tracking methods useless.

Yes it was daily news a while ago that the mexican drug cartel were getting their guns at American gun shows;so Obama could shut down the shows and gun rights.
