Top Newt Gingrich Staffers Quit, Gov, Rick Perry May Run
Life News ^ | June 9, 2011 | Steven Ertelt

Posted on 06/09/2011 1:58:21 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Gingrich 2012 campaign manager Rob Johnson quit along with top strategists Sam Dawson and Dave Carney, and spokesman Rick Tyler quit as well. Meanwhile consultants Katon Dawson in South Carolina and Craig Schoenfeld in Iowa tendered their resignations as well. They quit because they wanted to promote what they told Politico would be a “different vision” for the campaign.

.....Conservative and mainstream media reporters speculated and provided considerable evidence that Perry is likely to benefit form the departures and that he is closer to declaring he will run for the Republican nomination than ever before — even though he has leaned against it in the past.

Jim Geraghty of National Review cited three separate GOP consultant familiar with Perry’s intentions as signaling his is inching closer to running.

“Knew this was coming… I bet Perry is in this thing sooner rather than later – these guys aren’t jumping off without somewhere else to land,” one said.

Another added, “Gingrich was clearly melting down, and Perry is clearly gearing up, so it was time for the switcheroo.”

“He thinks there is a void [in the current field of candidates], and that he might be uniquely positioned to fill that void,” said one Perry confidant who talked to the governor last week, according to the Wall St. Journal.

Perry has pleased pro-life advocates in Texas many times with signing pro-life legislation — most recently signing an ultrasound bill allowing women to see them before an abortion and hopefully changing their minds on it. He has been strongly supported by pro-life groups. Perry supported or signed into law the Women’s Right to Know Act and the Prenatal Protection Act in 2003, parental consent law in 2005, and funding for alternatives to abortions in 2007 and 2009.

That won’t matter to some organizations like the source for this story. They’ll see he’s pro life and just ignore everything else - which is why a lot of life oriented folks like Huck and like GWB and a lot of other assorted non conservatives.

(and I’m pro life, but I look at how a man/woman will govern, not just one issue).

Rick Perry is a leader. While the nation lost half a million jobs in the last year, Texas gained 250,000 net new jobs. He improved the job climate in Texas by refusing to raise taxes in the face of the largest budget deficit in Texas history. He had the foresight to join legislators in saving for a rainy day. And he has consistently asked agency heads to cut their budgets even when surpluses were rolling in. My fellow Republicans, that’s consistent leadership. That's Rick Perry." Sarah Palin

If Rick jumps in I say Sarah is going to endorse him. She wont endorse any other candidate, I think she will run if Perry doesn't.

I fought him every step of the way on issues like the TTC and the *vaccine* battle but, as of late, he's championed state's rights, immigration issues that totally agree with.

Judging by the apparent weakness of the GOP field, I believe he should go for it and even though I haven't voted for him in the last 2 cycles, I would consider it this time around.

“Gingrich only announced his candidacy for the publicity it would bring to him”

EXACTO!

Maybe sell more books. get a jump in salary if and when he re-joins Fox etc.

However, the way he’s flaming out, it is decreasing his value. (If he had any at all to begin with). After all, u got to sell a lot books and have a big Fox news contract to pay for Tiffany’s and Cruises.

Perry is a globalist who has given the UAE and Saudi Arabia unfettered access to the education system in Texas, including allowing an arab sheik to build a school for Texas’s ‘poor’ children, a muslim school doncha know.

He was in favor of the TransTexas corridor and using eminent domain to take the land to build it, then let a Spanish company Cintra ‘own’ the transportation corridor and charge whatever tolls they want on the roads to ensure their profits. In addition that road would have not had any border inspection either, as a perk to Cintra and the Chinese who are building the port of entry on the Pacific Ocean.

As another Texan I would be happy if Perry were to run...

Back and forth through the desert west of Brownsville carying a big clear trashbag full of money.

For how ever long it takes for his La Raza pals to relieve us of him.

Speaking of the TTC.......

A steady stream of bills to sell-off Texas infrastructure to private corporations flooded the pipeline during the 82nd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature with a key bill, SB 1048, to authorize state and local governments to privatize virtually every kind of public infrastructure (except roads) and charge user fees or lease payments for the public to access its own buildings: schools, hospitals, nursing homes, water supply facilities, ports, mass transit, libraries, even telecommunications and pipelines.

All under RINO Rick's tenure.

Perry’s have a boy who should have graduated from Vanderbilt by now and a daughter who should have graduated from Texas A&M by now. Boy is Griffin and girl is Sydney I think.

Local news here in Austin reporting Perry getting lots of *prodding* from people outside of Texas to run.

While most Texans (who know him best) are turning up their noses at the prospect of Perry running.

If Rick jumps in I say Sarah is going to endorse him. She wont endorse any other candidate, I think she will run if Perry doesn't.

My feelings exactly. And I salivate at the trap Obama would walk right into with Perry. "Do we really want another president from Texas?" To which Perry would respond, "Let's compare job growth in Texas to California, New York, or...ILLINOIS." And that would be that.
