Herman Cain: Homosexuality is a sin and a choice (Will this statement help or hurt his chances?)
CBS News ^ | 06/09/2011 | Brian Montopoli

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain told Hotsheet Wednesday that homosexuality is a sin and a choice.

"I believe homosexuality is a sin because I'm a Bible-believing Christian, I believe it's a sin," he said. "But I know that some people make that choice. That's their choice."

Cain was asked: "So you believe it's a choice?"

"I believe it is a choice," he responded.

“So, based on these testimonies, I still believe you ought to rethink your theory.”

Well I might if I had been the one to meet these people, and not hearing about them second hand from a stranger online, no offense.

“What’s the alternative to choice—genes?”

Nope, environment during early childhood.

No. Evironment isn’t a determinant; at best it’s a mitigating factor. Jimmy Cagny & Daniel P. Moynihan grew up in Hell’s Kitchen. Nor is experience a determinant.

There’s either free will or no free will. No free will would mean a predeterminant—a new or displaced gene, e.g..

JUST AS LONG AS THEY SPELL HIS NAME CORRECTLY.

Outside of what Herman Cain saying being the Lord's Honest Truth, this man needs NAME ID and he needs it quick. This is one sure way to guarantee it. In fact, I am sure that is partially why he did it. Brilliant strategy. He needs to draw in heavy negative fire at this point, to then have the chain reaction of forcing his supporters to dig even deeper in their pockets, bring fence sitters into his camp, and get the general question out there "Who is this Herman Cain anyways".

I SO HOPE the late night liberal talk show hosts/comedians go after him, because it will actually have a net positive result in terms of contributions, ground game/team assembly, press ink and name ID, all things this struggling second tier candidate needs to burst into the front spot of the first tier guys (and gals). At least that is my take.

Remember that name folks! Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain. Herman Cain.

Heck, no! Drugs are probably the biggest part of the disease. Useful in curbing inhibitions, then for drowning out the guilt.

Herman has been waffling or has been ambiguous in this department of late. From saying that he would have no problem appointing an openly “gay” staff member to saying that he thinks it should be handled at a state level. The correct answer is that there is no such thing as “gay marriage;” it’s missing an integral part of marriage.

“How will the others answer...are they for the truth or will PC will out.”

What do you think? And that includes Sarah Palin.

I do wish, though, that he’d have made the distinction between the urge (or being born that way) and the acting out or lifestyle, because that’s probably what he meant, and would reach many more people than the argument of whether the actual condition is a choice or born into a person.

>> Well I support him but on the “choice” remark...that’s gonna hurt him.

If it’s not a choice, how can it be a layman’s sin?

I have no doubt same sex attraction exists, but probably to a minimal extent. I also have no doubt that a larger percentage of individuals can be conditioned to embrace homosexuality. It’s the conditioning that involves choice which I suspect accounts for at least 90% of the homosexual populace.

Normalizing homosexuality is a perilous effort.

No, I’m saying drugs as in psychiatric drugs. Like the kind that make little kids sit still.

Find a drug that clears up their insanity. They do have drugs for clearing up insanity.

Environment can include a lot of things like being poisoned by chemicals. Too much Soy, perhaps, or BPA? Male homos could be possessed by a female demon?

Whatever it is, it’s a social problem, and we need to find the cause of this social problem.

>>> Think about how wonderful it would have been to live in America prior to 1800 - in terms of personal liberty.

Everyone is born straight by God’s design. You choose to be gay or not. No one is born that way. There isn’t a gay gene. This is how liberals twist this and I’m not falling for it.

Homosexuality is a sin just as much as adultery is. And, people do choose to commit adultery.

I know you think you’re clever, but, really, you fall short.

I agree that Herman has the nerve to tell the truth. He is not concerned about being PC. It drives the media nuts.

THE GREAT THING ABOUT HERMAN IS HE IS REAL. He doesn't calculate his every statement. We're not used to candidates being so transparently honest.

Anyway, if we are to be reduced to merely the sum of our biological impulses, then there's a whole ton of behavior we need to normalize.

NEVER did I say that we need to normalize the behavior. It is abnormal BY NATURE. GOD has decided that it takes one man and one woman to procreate in humans, but the other poster said that NO homosexual activity occurs anywhere else in nature and I cited an example. The reason makes no difference.

Here's my summary. Homosexual behavior is abnormal, it is wrong, but I do not believe that in every case, the person who partakes in homosexual activity is doing it by choice. Yes, it has become a new fad to be gay or lesbian, but you cannot convince me that there are not some out there who feel trapped in their own body. Outside workings of a man, inside feelings and thinkings of a woman. But it should not be normalized.

They tell me that it is possible to be INFLUENCED into a lifestyle.

I do agree that this is the main reason for a large percentage, the so-called gays. I do believe though that there is that small percentage that truly are just abnormal. Much like a person born with both sex organs.

Everyone is born straight by God’s design.

Is everyone born with five fingers on each hand?

Five toes on each foot?

Outside, physical abnormalities are easy to detect. Inside abnormalities are much harder to detect.

dont be a stupidass

I did not say there is no CHOICE of this behavior

But I used to work at a place near a lesbian organization. Some of these women could pass 100% for guys, they even gave off a total aura of being a guy- and if it were not for the occasional boobs visible in t-shorts you would never know.

Since our genes define how we grow and develop then somethig in their genes gave them more male characteristics than they should have had as females.

Is that somehow too difficult to understand? Maybe the ‘pesky’ gene is one that produces excessive male hormones. If I understand it correctle all of us M and F are born the same way and a certain hormone at a certain time determines the sex.
