Republican Governor Robert Bentley on Thursday signed into law a crackdown on illegal immigration in Alabama that both supporters and critics consider the toughest in the nation.
Under the new measure, police must detain someone they suspect of being in the country illegally if the person cannot produce proper documentation when stopped for any reason.
It also will be a crime to knowingly transport or harbor someone who is in the country illegally. The law imposes penalties on businesses that knowingly employ someone without legal resident status. A company's business license could be suspended or revoked.
The law requires Alabama businesses to use a database called E-Verify to confirm the immigration status of new employees.
"We have a real problem with illegal immigration in this country," Bentley said after signing the law. "I campaigned for the toughest immigration laws and I'm proud of the Legislature for working tirelessly to create the strongest immigration bill in the country."

I’m sure the teachers’ unions are fighting to keep every illegal alien in this country (and let in even more); up here in the northeast those illegals are the only things keeping whole school districts open...
Is that you, Harvey Updyke?
I quit taking it many years ago, too, I read this online. Whoever wrote it wanted us to feel oh so badly for the illegals. From reading the comments, it did not work. It was several days ago.
Dunno about that. Have we (as a SERIOUS AU fan, Samford Grad) come up with an explanation for Cynthia Tucker yet? :):)
LOL
Sorry about that softball World Series...
Luckily we are a nation of laws not fears or emotion...facts are such annoying little things...Of course the issue of the very physical presence of illegals being here is a crime in and of itself NEVER enters the mind of libtards...
Sweet Home Alabama.
For some reason when dealing with Dems a Monty Python reference is almost always appropriate...
Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.
No, we haven’t and we have no explanation for Gibbsey either. HE even grew up here! Oh, the shame of it all!

ROTFLOL!
Have an AUsome day!!!
Did you help roll the trees when Bear Bryant died?
What does a humor tag have to do with my relating something I observed? You joked about liberals at Bama and related what I observed.
The “hater” label is a favorite of liberals (as you know), and it just so happened the ONLY time I have ever had that tag applied to me in a sports discussion was from Auburn fans...I have offered complaints about Bama to Bama fans, but none of them got into the “hater” groove...I had strong back and forth with Texas fans, and again, none of them played the HATER CARD...USC the same...Gators the same...ONLY the Auburn fans, and so the it would seem from my experience that your joke is best suited for them.
No need to go back across the border when there are Sanctuary Cities.

Dang my smoke alarm just went off.
I already posted this earlier today.... but for your continued enjoyment here it is again:
“Hopefully, Texas Governor Rick Perry has noticed this development.... but more than likely hes at some wine and
cheese reception shmoozing with his cheap labor loving, big bidness political friends”
Thanks MamaB for the additional info.
