Jewish burial, which Joseph of Arimathea used, according to scripture, has been studied in depth, and is much richer than can be covered by a few sentences in the Scriptures... but can be covered by the phrase used. The author of the scriptures understood what he meant and assumed the readers would as well. . . several Bible translations today cite Joseph as buying a fine Linen sindon, a shroud, the same thing he would use to bury a member of his own family.
