The ultimate NHS indignity: Body of hospital patient left to die in corridor is ignored for hours.

Two heartbroken parents have slammed 'inhumane' nurses who left their dead son lying in the middle of a hospital corridor and stepped over his corpse for more than ten hours thinking he was asleep.

CCTV captured staff pulling the lifeless body of Peter Thompson along the floor like they were 'dragging the body of a dead animal'.

Today a coroner said his death was 'wholly preventable' and believes he could have survived but for the neglect of nursing staff, three of whom now face disciplinary proceedings.

41-year-old Mr Thompson had taken a cocktail of drink and drugs but instead of taking him to accident and emergency, staff at the Edale House unit at the Manchester Royal Infirmary left him sprawled on the floor, where he eventually died.

Why hospitals don't allow catz. Because they would have known he was dead, and taken appropriate (for catz) steps.

When life means nothing and is reduced to a cost figure on a balance sheet for ‘nationalized’ health care, the way patients and the dead are treated should not come as a surprise.

Won’t happen in this country.

Devoted SEIU “providers” would certainly check for vitals. Wallet, jewelry, coin, fillings...

Clearly we need to get rid of video cameras in hospitals

I understand the idea to let him sleep it off. That’s what I’d do, but then I’m not a medical professional who’s had proper medical procedure and triage of patients drilled into me over the years. That’s why we go to hospitals, because they’re supposed to know better.

Beggar at the feast!

Life is easy pickings
If you grab your chance.
Everywhere you go
Law-abiding folk
Doing what is decent
But they’re mostly broke!

Very sad. But he was that sedated, in our country (for now, anyway), he should have at least been in the ICU, perhaps even on a ventilator to protect his airway.

...Mr Thompson, a voluntary in-patient with alcohol and drug problems, was stopped from entering his ward after he turned up with a bottle of vodka and refused to surrender it....

...A pathologist report concluded he died from fatal levels of alcohol and anti-psychotic drugs, with liver cirrhosis as a contributing factor.

He was four times over the drink-drive limit.

It's always someone else's fault when you drink & drug yourself to death. /s

Yes, not sure about the responsibility/negligence of the nursing staff, here, but his “dignity” etc is rather hard to appreciate, if he is deliberately making himself pass out with drugs/alcohol - he didn’t seem much concerned about his “dignity.”
