Gavin, Jennifer Newsom moving from S.F. to Marin
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 6/8/11 | Phillip Matier, Andrew Ross

Former San Francisco Mayor-turned-Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is once again on the move - this time out of the city.

Movers from Delancey Street Foundation, where Newsom did his rehab counseling after admitting to a drinking problem a few years back, pulled up to his Ashbury Heights home Monday. Workers packed the family's beds and other belongings and drove them off to storage.

It seems that the four-bedroom, 3 1/2-bath home that Newsom and wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom purchased two years ago for $2.7 million is just not big enough anymore now that a second little Newsom is on the way.

So, the family is pulling up stakes for the summer and moving into Jennifer's parents' five-bedroom, five-bath home in the Marin County town of Ross.

But only "until they find a bigger place," said Newsom spokesman Francisco Castillo.

Does that mean the former mayor and his wife - both of whom grew up in Marin - are bidding the city adieu, as has been rumored since Newsom got his statewide job?

Newsom, who as mayor trumpeted initiatives aimed at keeping families from fleeing the city, isn't talking.

San Fruitsico is such a feceshole that not even Newsom wants to raise his kids there.

Can we talk about hypocrisy? Or is Newsom immune because he’s a good Democrat?

He started a city task force to deal with the fact that large numbers of families with school age children are moving out of SF. There’s a demographic hole in SF of traditional families with children. The city wanted to stem the tide of such people moving away.

So as mayor he wanted to encourage families raising children to stay in SF. But now he’s showing that he too wants to flee the city.

But since he’s a good Democrat, we’re not supposed to say anything.

If families with children, and the middle class in general, continue to move out of SF, who will be left?

Various minority groups? Homosexuals? Other liberal types such as vegan and environmental facists?

Heck maybe this is why SF banned Happy Meals. The food police liberal radical types far outnumber middle class families with children who might take their kids for a Happy Meal sometimes. So politically speaking, there was no blowback for SF to ban the Happy Meal.

I’m just waiting for McDonald’s to sue or pull out of SF. Certainly the guys at Mc Donald’s Corporate don’t want to have a liberal city dictate their business practices. That would be a powerful political statement to see McD’s pull out of SF.

Just like the rats who oppose vouchers but send their kids to private schools.

SF is the most childless city in North America; I guess the Newsoms’ want to keep it that way.

Actually, one minority group in SF has seen its numbers decline. If published figures are correct, the number of blacks in SF has declined again.
Oh, if McD’s were to pull out of SF, you'd hear a cheer that would shake Coit Tower.

The opposite of a “breeder” is an “extincter”. A species that does not breed becomes extinct. I thought these folks loved Darwin - except when he proves them to be fools.

San Francisco is becoming a city of pied-a-terres. People who come from all over the world, bid up the real estate that they use for only a few days a year, and leave our city looking cold and vacant, with more and more high rises.

Add to that the 30,000 rental units that landlords have decided not to fill because of onerous rent laws and the many vacant condos purchased on spec and unrented because of the same onerous rent laws, and you have a city of facades in so MANY ways.
