It is unfortunate that “displaying a weapon” is a criminal act in a lot of cases - it’s called “brandishing”.
I don’t know what this ass of a law was intended to prevent,
but the result is that a CCHL holder has to let the situation escalate to the point where you HAVE to shoot and kill your attacker instead of deterring him by displaying your ability to defend yourself.

I think it was intended to prevent the “bad guys” from intimidating the “good guys” by the mere display of a weapon.
Unfortunately it seems to have more of an adverse effect on the “good guys” than the “bad guys”.
