The question begs - why go to college? Seriously - while some career paths/fields absolutely necessitate/require a degree - there are millions of jobs that require little or no college- or can be well-filled with some training or apprentice-type work.
But apparently, those jobs are not good enough for Americans...so go to college, rack up debt, then suck off the government system when you cannot get a job. Or complain when your high school classmate that chose not to go get in debt to pay for a piece of paper on the wall makes more money than you do...
Need to spread this story far and wide because the MSM won’t.
Put it on every website you know and email to people.
In the SWATs we are seeing the beginnings of our own Terror. Eventually law enforcement will be centralized in the Federal Government, the SWATs along with it. What is going on now is essentially training and practice, perhaps not by design but that is what it soon enough will seem in retrospect.
Fine. Seize his tax refund. Get a court order to garnish his wages. Put a tax lien on his house. No problems...if he owes the money, he owes the money.
But SWAT?
I guess in the Øbamanation that we've become this will be increasingly normal and, in fact, will be supported by some on this site.
Just goes to show that statists are located everywhere, including Free Republic.
Hopefully we are not getting the full story on this case. What if the DOE contacted the woman in default and that woman made some very specific threats like “If you come to my house at “exhusbands address” then I will kill you all.” But they still could have waited for her to come outside and grab her at that point.
My children went to good colleges close to home and majored in subjects that enabled them to make a living. They worked after school and in the summer. They both obtained advanced degrees from nationally-acclaimed universities while they were working full time. They graduated with 0 debt. I know it can be done.
They drove safe — but modest — used cars, ate at home or at inexpensive buffets, wore old jeans, had lots of friends, and generally had a wonderful college experience.
That is not correct!
View the video again and read the article again and pick through the parsed words>
The DOE refused to comment at all.
The Stockton police said they sent one car at the request of the DOE and that they (Stockton Police) did not kick down the door, handcuff the man or hold him against his will.
How wonderful - and to think that your kids accomplished all of that in spite of having a parent who thinks totalitarian tactics by the Government is just peachy....
Morons.
Came across these stories from last year.

I acknowledge that the SWAT thing was stupid and worse, but I really want my money back! You and I pay our debts and taxes; these people shouldn’t be allowed to walk away for legitimate debts owed us.
That is simply not true.
You cannot, ever walk away from a student loan. It is sacrosanct above all other debt including overdue taxes. Even taxes can be discharged in bankruptcy if the are old enough, but student loans can never be discharged.
Also, the government is very aggressive in collecting student loans, including lawsuits and garnishments.
The entire student loan program is a sham and should be eliminated as soon as possible.
And how long ago was this?
This is the same government that the left has better judgement about my own physical being than I do.
Very interesting times we live in.
By kicking down the door of her entranged husband's house and taking him out and gunpoint?
No, no....the point I meant to make is that kids can still graduate from school with no debt.
I hope I’m not the totalitarian I gave the appearance of being. I just want people who borrow from taxpayers to repay their debts, and some people won’t do that unless they are forced to by the law.
Personally, I think the main reason this country is in the present financial situation is the unrealistic and irresponsible attitude of some of our citizens regarding debt. If you owe it, pay it. If you have a problem, talk to the lender. Whatever you do, don’t ignore the debt like so many of these student borrowers appear to be doing.
It is not really YOUR money.
The FED makes the money for the USA. It is THEIR money.
We just pay interest to USE FED money. That interest is called TAXES. We wouldn’t need taxes if we used our OWN money, like Congress is supposed to do.
It is the FED’s money, and it is NOT your money, never.
In fact, it is because the US uses FED money that we are in this mess in the first place. It is where our government thinks deficit spending is great. The deficit spending holds up the FED’s fiat currency scheme. THEY are the one who need an ever growing pool of debt to keep THEIR money growing. It is like a shark, it can’t stop.
So, it is not your money or my money, it is the FEDs money, and they are going to kill us all to keep their game going.
I forgot to add that this is also the same government that no one believes would enforce their health care legislation at the point of a gun. Everyone calls me a conspiracy theorist when I explain that guns are the only enforcement mechanism the government has....
Wrong, it not only is possible, its fairly easy.
We are doing with my college age student right now.
First, you have to decide that the purpose of a college education is education and not a social experience, since a large portion of student debt is acquired for the social experience of going away to college.
Once you have decided the above you send the student to a local community college. My son's tuition is $2,700 per year with a $2,200 direct tax credit from the federal government fro a net cost of $500.00 per year. All classes will transfer for full credit to a four year college.
While he is attending the community college (living at home), he is working part time and banking money for the four year program.
He will spend the final two years at a local university (still living at home). The tuition is $8,000.00 per year. Again, the government gives a direct tax credit approximately $2,200.00 so the net cost is $5,800 per year for the final two years. The total cost for a four year degree is $12,600 which can easily be handled by wotking while going to college.
My child will have no debt and money in the bank when he gets his degree and this is without any scholarship money, whatsoever.
