WASHINGTON With few options at hand and his poll numbers sagging, President Barack Obama expressed concern Tuesday about the sudden slowdown in the economy but said he is not worried about a second recession and the nation should "not panic."
The president spoke about the new economic trouble in detail for the first time since a report late last week showed job growth had slowed sharply in May. He tried to reassure Americans worried about high unemployment and expensive gas that the nation is on a slow, if not steady, path to recovery.
"I am concerned about the fact that the recovery that we're on is not producing jobs as quickly as I want it to happen," Obama said at an appearance with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel. "We don't yet know whether this is a one-month episode or a longer trend."

Obama’s just another “concern troll”
That article has 123,706 comments on Yahoo. I wonder what the record is.
4 trillion in ‘stimulus’ and we’re not creating jobs? so, um, excuse me for asking this, but, where the hell did the money go???
a lot of change, not a lot of hope
Add concerned idiot to that.
Obama makes an excuse while standing for a photo op with a foreign leader and AP calls that “spoke about the new economic trouble in detail”.
The trending was not “hopey changey” comments either.
Is main street America waking up ??
“And that affects consumer confidence, and it affects business confidence, it affects the capital market. And so our task is to not panic.”
What kind of consumer confidence, business confidence and capital market does Obama think he is sitting on top of?
The shite sandwich made me laugh out loud. But seriously, suppose Obama had campaigned thusly: “In two years the deficit will explode, unemployment will skyrocket, and gas will be pushing 5 bucks a gallon. Now, that’s if you elect me. If you don’t, it will be much, much worse.”
You are not kidding. Went through several pages randomly, and there were only a couple of pro-Hope/Change comments. The disconnect between main street and the media/DC culture is pretty remarkable.
What is troubling is that the political reaction to this kind of discontent is always counterproductive. I think QE3 is a foregone conclusion at this point (regardless of what they actually call it).
..he didn’t have any problem driving it into the ground, but now that he sees he’s being closed in on...he allows himself to express concern........ S***head
Gee, I must have missed it when the economy was moving fast.
Why should he be worried about a second recession? He has enough tax dollars to spend on all his vacations and golf outings...
That 2nd picture was disturbing, but still made me laugh.
