Bachmann consultant Ed Rollins: Palin hasn’t been serious for years
Hot Air ^ | June 7, 2011 | Allahpundit

Via the Daily Caller and Politico, if jabs like this are already being thrown before Palin’s even in the race, how brutal will things be in six months when the two of them and Herman Cain are battling for the grassroots vote in Iowa? Good lord.

It’s going to be a long, hot, nasty summer, my friends.

“Sarah has not been serious over the last couple of years,” Rollins told Brian Kilmeade on his radio show, Kilmeade and friends. “She got the Vice Presidential thing handed to her, she didn’t go to work in the sense of trying to gain more substance, she gave up her governorship.”…

“Michele Bachmann and others [have] worked hard, she has been a leader of the Tea Party which is a very important element here, she has been an attorney, she has done important things with family values.”

“She is probably the best communicator [in the GOP field] now that Mike Huckabee’s not in there,” he said.

That’s from Ben Smith, who describes Rollins as Bachmann’s new “top consultant” even though it sounds from yesterday’s CBS scoop like he’ll actually be managing her campaign. This isn’t the first time Rollins has derided Palin, either; remember this op-ed for CNN in December where he described her as a “gadfly” and told her, “If you want to be a serious presidential candidate, get to work”? At the time, it looked like he was tearing her down in advance of another Huckabee run. Now that Huck’s out, he’s landed with her other chief competitor. I was skeptical of that Politico piece a few weeks ago alleging a quiet feud between the two sides, but Rollins’s comments fit the description of Team Bachmann’s outlook perfectly: “[E]ach camp views the other with a level of suspicion, with some of Palin’s supporters seeing Bachmann as a B-list version of their icon, and some in Bachmann’s camp regarding Palin as a short-timer without Bachmann’s record or tenure.” Which raises the question, did Bachmann hire Rollins in spite of his criticisms of Palin — or because of them?

Bachmann consultant Ed Rollins: Palin hasn’t been serious for years

This is actually very good, folks. It clears the air, blows aways the mists, exposes true intent.

Now Bachmann will either muzzle/fire Rollins... or not. Either way, she speaks.

Clearly.

I guess Obie has set a new standard for legislators and the presidency, which is where I guess Mrs. Bachmann is drawing her inspiration. Accomplish NOTHING then try and run for the highest office in the land.

I used to really like Michelle, but something has happened to her lately. I believe that she misinterpreted all the donations that she received from Conservatives in fighting for her seat from the radical rats in Minnesota. We sent money to assure that she would win her seat, not have delusions of grandeur.

Ed Rollins is a %%*()()))@#$$5dirty bass turd, and is a woman hater. Ask Katherine Harris about Ed Rollins. He was her campaign manager for a short time and when she would not go along with his BS,he called her crazy, and dozens of other adjectives, each one more vicious than the previous. This is a terrible mistake for MB as it was for KH.

What in the Hell has happened to MB?

1. MB is NOT trying to win.

2. MB is Myth’s stalking horse to drain off Sarah’s supporters and MB will receive an appointment in Myth’s cabinet.

3. MB canNOT be trusted.

What a lack of class. Sarah Palin (and Tim Pawlenty) helped Michele Bachmann raise cash for her 2010 Congressional re-election bid by participating in a fundraiser. (April 7, 2010) Minnesota Public Radio's article about a Palin-Bachmann rally has a photo of Sarah Palin at the top, implying that the reason for the great turnout was Palin rather than Bachmann. The private fundraiser followed the rally. CLICK HERE to read the article: "Thousands turn out for Palin-Bachmann rally"

Michele Bachmann made a big mistake in hiring Ed Rollins in the first place. I'm wondering now just who advised her about her advisor?

Representative Bachmann’s two and a half terms in Congress has been the political equivalent to a Seinfeld episode.

So are you saying the Rollins is a “Republican” version of James Carville?

It’s the worst possible thing Ed could do. Nasty and unhelpful to anyone.

Makes me think a little less of Michele if she knew he was gonna come out with this.

That happened when he was running that wonderful conservative Christine Todd Whitman.(The Chris Christy of the day) He was paying off black ministers in NJ to not mention Dem Florio, basically hush money. I don’t recall if the amount was ever tallied or accounted for as Rollins only revealed the bag job after the election in his ‘Aren’t I Grand’ book.

Give her a chance to respond. Silence or weak response and then we will know.

I agree with giving her a chance because she was terrific in the fight against Obamacare and I admire her for being pro life, but why on earth would she hire a has-been hack like Ed Rollins? That's not an indication of good decision-making skills.

And yes, if you're wondering, I'm hoping Sarah Palin runs because she's the one who'll get my vote.

Rollins is worse than a RHINO. He has no redeeming societal characteristics. I believe Bachmann got suckered by the same people that suckered Palin. Cross out McCain because he was in on the scam. It does go to show that Bachmann really has no touch with the Tea Party spirit. Her taking on ex McCain advisers is an indicator. Unless by the grace of God she can explain the attack on Palin and stuff Rollins out of her group she is down the tubes. And this is by a person who in the past gave strong support for Bachmann as real conservative.

I think he is older school than Carville. He was one of the disciples of the “Rat F$%ker” style of Nixon politics. If you don’t know about that, look up Donald Segretti. A real bare knuckles guy. I know a lot of people here think he is a sleaze, but this election against Obummer is going to take that. We see how the Chicago machine works in the WH. It would be nice to have someone hit them head on with their own brand of destruction. Rollins seems to be that type of guy.

The only other guy I know like that in the GOP is Roger Stone, Trumps consultant.

You know that if Palin decides to run, Bachmann and her are going to have to fight it out along with everyone else? This is a primary after all. Punches need to be thrown. What do you think Obummers is going to be doing to them in the general. The time to toughen up is now.

If I had one complaint about Rollins comment, it would be to wait on the combat till they are both officially announced.
