Romney to Tea Party movement: No third party bids!

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney has a message to Tea Party candidates nationwide: If you lose your Republican primary bids, stay on the sidelines.

The former Massachusetts governor on Monday warned the grassroots movement not to mount third party efforts in general elections, which he said would siphon votes from Republican nominees.

"If there is a conservative candidate that runs in the general election, then obviously, divide and fail is the result," Romney said in an interview with the conservative Web site Newsmax. "Hopefully Tea Party candidates will run in respective primaries and they will either win or lose. And if they win, they will go into the general. If they lose, they won't, and they will get behind the more conservative of the two finalists."

Romney explained that "dividing our conservative effort in the general elections" would "basically hand the country to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and that would be very sad indeed."

“A Romney nomination would be a strong signal for a third party movement to materialize.”

It will happen spontaneously. Mentally and emotionally, I have already moved on. Just waiting for enough others the realize that the GOP is the Vidkun Quisling party. Conservatives are dupes to them. Their “frensh” are acrosh the aisle.

Mitt Romney has a message to Tea Party candidates nationwide: If you lose your Republican primary bids, stay on the sidelines.

Mitt, you have mistaken Tea Party candidates for meek members that you held sway over with your "mormon priesthood authority" while you were bishop and stake president over them.

This is some of the "attitude of superiority" and total arrogance that goes along with that fake "authority".

Tea Partiers and/or other candidates are NOT going to "sustain" this power grab. You have outed yourself for sure as one who is as narcissistic as Obama.

Romney is 100% correct. It would be a moral travesty to do anything to reelect Obama.

“After living in Central America for many years I can see first hand the results of multi party politics. None of them can win by themselves so they have to form alliances and share the rule.”

Point taken. The fact of the matter is that if it is an Obama versus Romney ticket, the need is for a second party to emerge, not a third party.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

George Washington believed political parties would distract government from it’s duties, create unfounded jealousies between groups and regions, raise false alarms amongst the people, promote riots and insurrection, and would open doors to foreign influence and corruption. Obviously, a very perceptive man.

IMO, in a democracy all elections should be non-partisan and all primary elections for presidential candidates should be held on the same day. Any candidate receiving at least 15% of votes cast would qualify for the general election. If no one received a majority of a states votes, divide the electoral college votes proportionally among candidates.

Palin’s favorite president is George Washington. I hope she adopts Washington’s view of political parties and runs as a pro democracy, anti corruption reformer. Considering how much American’s hate party bosses in the District of Corruption, I think this could be a winning strategy for Palin and America.

I was wondering about Romney

Will he be traveling around the country extolling the conservative ideals of Palin, Bachman, Cain or West ???

Or will some social issue keep him and his friends suddenly busy in the one state using up their time and money like in 2008 ???

And if a Tea Party person wins the primaries are the establishment guys going to support the Tea Party? So far, the establishment support of the Tea Party has been tepid at best.

They had darned better support the Tea Party candidate. To do anything else is unconscionable. The only people I've even seen a hint about a "third party" are Trump and Palin and shame on anyone who boosts Obama's chances.

The Republican party establishment is even more out of touch with main street America than the Dems. At least they are smart enough to pay lip service to their constituents. This guy comes out with implied threats.

We've come to a time when we have to decide whether we are conservatives or Republicans, as the two obviously are not the same thing. A Romney nomination will bring this to a head and he will cause the Republican party to go the way of the Whigs.

Many will, that is a natural thing, but Romney is different than most rinos, many of us will not, and many of us cannot vote for Mitt Romney.

The Romney candidacy goes far beyond being unpalatable, or a bad match, or too moderate, to be our preferred candidate, Romney is a candidate that we must choose to fight even into the general election

The mittwit has now left the arena of RINO and officially declared his PRIC candidacy.

Let him take his chances like everyone else. These threats of either I get my way or help reelect Obama are destructive.

Romney will be looking for a job in the new administration so he’ll give lip service to supporting the conservative but will not do much.

I notice the air around that interview had a slight odor. It kind of smelled like fear and desperation.

Then the leftist SOB should do the right thing and just bow the hell OUT!! If you intend on supporting this socialist/abortionist POS, you should find a new home on the web. FR totally rejects Romney and any of his supporters!

FR is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty site and will remain such! RINOs be damned!!

If you want to surrender your freedom to the idiot that joined with Kennedy to rape Massachusetts, be my guest, but do it elsewhere!!

Rebellion is brewing!! Those weaklings who can’t stomach it should bail out now!!

“OK Laura probably really hates me now but there were a lot of conservatives who fell for him in 2008 even though his record in MA should’ve been well known.
That’s the power of Romney. He is a very tricky guy.”

I don’t understand it. Mitt Romney is like a political iteration of Ted Bundy. Gullible women seem drawn to him. That lounge lizard “it” I guess.

I absolutely do not support Romney in the caucus but if he is the party’s nominee, I will be enthusiastically supporting him over Obama. To do anything less is unconscionable.
