Used to use peanut butter in my electronic mouse hotels (they check in and get a GOOD night's sleep) but it leaves a gooey mess on the metal plates inside which tends to collect dust/fuzz/otherassortedcrap and starts shorting across. Now I use pieces of stale cookie. No gooey mess, and the honored guests love it too. Victor makes both a small version for mice and a bigger version that rats get a charge out of.
Did I mention that it kills chipmunks too? Toss a hunk of walnut in it...
