President Barack Obama famously won the 2008 election on a wave of support from America's youth. But any hopes the 49-year-old had of keeping down with the kids appear to have faded - his support from young people is rapidly waning, a poll has found. And for a man known for his 'jacket off' casual style the reason for this slump may be particularly hurtful - students are abandoning the President because they do not think he is cool anymore, it has been claimed.
Back then: In 2008, students voted for Obama because they 'thought he was cool' According to the National Journal's Ronald Brownstein report, President Obama has dramatically lost support from young people - and particularly young white people - in America since 2008. His approval rating among those aged 18 to 29 is currently at 56 per cent - a huge fall of ten points since the 2008 exit polls.
And this comes in stark contrast to Obama's general approval rating levels, which are pretty consistent with those of 2008. The reason for this sudden drop is because students, who rushed behind the Obama campaign in 2008, no longer think he is cool, according to those at Oberlin College, which is known for its hipster left-wing activism.

You nailed it. Most of the youth vote that turns on Obama will do so because he’s not liberal enough, or didn’t provide the unicorns, not because they’ve abandoned that fantasy.
I hope a smart GOP campaign can calculate how to exploit that.
We need to give those kids more bumper stickers and tshirts that are anti-Obama in a way that appeals to their premie psychology.
Feed them the truth.
Look, they’ve been lied to all their lives about pretty much everything in school. It takes time for people to realize that they were being fed bs the whole while.
I know it took me time too. When I was 18, I was a globalist. I believed that a one world government was the best outcome and I have writings from back then to prove it.
By 19, I was a Christian who believed that gay marriage was ok because marriage in general made people better.
When I was 20 I realized that I didn’t understand Christian marriage very well, and came to understand how sin changes the way our brain operates and how people get inured to sin. You can’t get to virtue through sin except in repenting and turning away from sin.
I made my huge stride in two years, and have generally been adding to it all the while. But I was confronted by the hard and ugly truth that I had been lied to and everything I had known was wrong, dead wrong.
I suppose hope and chains can’t get you a JOB might have something to do with it!
What’s scary is that these morons found Ubama “cool” in the first place.

I agree with you. Those same young college kids, even without the ability to find a job will flock to the voting booth as soon as obama’s ‘army’ gets on campus again.
Remember, the fact that they’ve been having their brains turned to mush in our liberal colleges tells me they will not change in for short years.
You must not work near a large university. Sadly, they do still exist.

Everybody voted for this guy because he was cool, I said it eons ago, especially the young turk brokers and traders in NY (via Wall St ). When his tax ideas came out and they realized they were going to get hit, in company meetings it is on record one of these young turks yelled out **** Obama. He ain’t so cool anymore when your tied down by Dodd-Frank and ya can’t get a job after college. Sucks to be them.

A certain demographic elects presidents based on whether or not they are “cute”.
That demographic once could not even vote.

If they supported him then but don't now, it's because they found out something about him since then that they didn't know before. And it isn't that he's black.
