Let us declare with certitude the obvious: Rep. Anthony Weiner has disgraced his office, and himself, and he needs to quit.
Never mind that he went before the TV cameras yesterday, cried on cue and assumed "responsibility" for a litany of offenses to common decency -- including sending lewd messages and revealing photos to young women on Twitter, and then lying about it.
Repeatedly and egregiously.
But there is a difference between taking "responsibility" for what one has done, and accepting the full consequences of those actions -- which in Weiner's case would require his resignation.

I heard Client No. 9, needs another perv. for proper "Balance"....
Client #9! LOL! There are so many to keep up with - was that Spitzer?
I’m sure weiner is very happy to know he can count on your vote.
Rearry? Don't be sirry.
I would not go that far and Im sure when what ive read about the rest to come out about him ill have a change of heart. He is definately dumb as rocks. Too stupid to be in office. I guess I just found it refreshing that instead of doing a maxine waters routine he just came out and said, you got me, I lied, I make no excuses, blame noone. That does not excuse what he did. You are right on that point
Weiner declared himself a victim and allowed Andrew Breitbart to be accused of hacking the account when he knew Breitbart was innocent. Weiner is NOT a victim.
Alas - I recently turned sixty; I wouldn’t know.
I knew that surprisingly heterosexual Congressman Anthony “Ballpark Frank” Weiner would not resign.
Chris Lee was a sucker to do so. Privately I’m sure Weiner laughed at him as continued to gross out college girls.
Watch, he’ll be Mayor now. He’ll get the Bill Clinton treatment.
Decapitate Willard, divorce Anthony, and reclaim your honor, Huma. Hillary's loving embrace awaits you.
I guess I disagree completely. This scandal does not prove that Weiner is stupid any more than the Monica Lewinski scandal proved that Bill Clinton was stupid. In both cases, what was revealed was a serious character flaw, not stupidity.
I guess I just found it refreshing that instead of doing a maxine waters routine he just came out and said, you got me,
That is not what happened. He spent the past week babbling about how his accounts had been hacked, how he had to go back to work for the people, how this was just a prank not worth pursuing legally, and so on. He lied incessantly to protect himself, knowing that an investigation would reveal that he sent the photo. He only confessed after his story was broken by new witnesses and a bunch of new photos. Up until he confessed, Weiner was apparently quite happy to see Andrew Breitbart falsely accused of hacking his online accounts.
Tony Weiner is about as refreshing as a swim in a sewer.
voice of reason
I agree he'll resign - he's become a laughingstock and it will be impossible for him to appear in public.
Like 90% of his colleagues in Congress!
WHO would EVER want to shake his hand??? EEEEWWWWWWW.
After yesterdays presser I wonder if the lump in Tony's throat was as big as the lump in his shorts.
I was waiting for someone to post that headline.
“Best headline ever?”
Maybe. I still liking the headline the day Osama was killed: “Got Him. Shot Him.” (St. Pete or Tampa newspaper, I think.)
“I doubt Weiner will resign. Unless the RATS beat him up really bad. The man is an arrogant ass with a pretty good dose of narcissism. He is indecent. A decent man would have already resigned.”
All true. If democrat politicians were decent, would Barney Frank still hold office after it was proven that he ran a male prostition ring out of his home? The narcissism you mention prohibits them from believing that anything should thwart their pathetic careers.
The embarrassment must be hard for Huma to swallow.
