Ive thought about trying this myself, minus the mystery catalyst. How hard could it be? Put some nickel powder in a metal pipe, pressurize with Hydrogen, heat the pipe to approx 300 degrees and see what happens.

I agree... Since Andrea Rossi’s just figuring out how it works himself, this catalyst must have been derived by trial and error... or accident. This would suggest to me that it probably works somewhat without the catalyst.

I would guess that this catalyst could be related to cleaning the nickle powder in an acid bath.
