After a week of facing questions about lewd Twitter photos, Rep. Anthony Weiner Saturday had more explaining to do: why his Nissan Pathfinder has New York license plates but a 2007 registration sticker.
A photo of Weiner behind the wheel of his more than 20-year-old SUV appeared in Saturday's Daily News as he left his Washington home Friday night.
((snip))
In March, the Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper, reported Weiner owed more than $2,000 in parking tickets for violations around the Capitol and near Reagan National Airport.

Great point. Cash for Clunkers didn’t cross my mind.
We’re screwed at such an alarming rate by DC that that mess seems like it was an eternity ago.

I renewed my primary vehicle 18 months late, I renewed my drivers license about 4 years late recently, and my car is 6 months behind.

I got pulled over for not having a front plate on my Mustang. I got a ticket too, which I had signed off once I put the plate on the car.
If I only had a "Congress" sticker on my car...

It doesn’t and it says volumes about the arrogance of our “rulers.”
You’d think that given the scandals with Conyers, Kerry and his yacht, the dude with money in his freezer, Geithner and his taxes, etc. these busy, “important” people would tell their accountants and staff to make double-plus sure that their affairs are all in order.

California Vehicle Code 12500(a)vc, makes driving with an expired license a misdemeanor punishable by any of the following:
Informal (otherwise known as "summary") probation for up to three years,
Up to six months in the county jail,
A maximum $1,000 fine,
A possible 30-day impound of your car.

I’m not terribly proud of the fact that I’m delighted to see the media pile on this guy. But I am.

I can’t say I am proud of anything the media does but I am happy to see this arrogant punk, who has been evading paying his share of the vehicle licensing fees, get exposed for the tax cheat that he clearly is.

Wonder if his car inspection is up to date. In NYS you cannot get renewed on your car registration unless the records show your car passed inspection in the past year.

California has the same only your car must pass inspection every other year, fail to pass and you don’t renew. There are exceptions, of course, like my 1969 Ford pickup; the cutoff year is 1976.

I grew up in a time when never renewing your license was smart. In the sixties and seventies, when stopped for a moving violation, the cop would usually stop at giving you a ticket for the expired license.

In NYS you cannot get renewed on your car registration unless the records show your car passed inspection in the past year. Here in PA it's the other way around, the inspection station won't give you a sticker unless you show them a current registration.

I’m right with you ansel. Same era...and same situation currently.

Weiner faces death by a thousand paper cuts. I can say this with certitude. It’s not kosher to call the CNN producer a jackass during a press conference.

He’s obviously made some enemies - why else would this be coming out and not being suppressed? A Daily News commentor is saying Bloomberg wants to run for a 4th term - if you can believe that! If that’s true (not sure), it would explain Weiner’s sudden implosion in the press.
