An FBI forensic expert said a hair removed from the trunk of Casey Anthony's car is consistent with hair from a dead body.
That was the testimony of Karen Korsberg Lowe Saturday in Anthony's sensational murder trial.
The 25-year old Orlando mother is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
FBI expert Lowe said she examined a light-brown, 9-inch-long hair for this case.
She said the hair was similar to one pulled from Caylee's brush and was not similar to a hair sample from Casey Anthony.
Ms Lowe also said the hair showed characteristics consistent with decomposition.
Anthony is charged with first-degree murder.
Prosecutors say the girl was suffocated after duct tape was placed over her mouth.
The defence contends she accidently drowned in her grandparents' swimming pool.
Anthony's attorney challenged Ms Lowe's qualifications as an expert in microscopic hair examinations.
Earlier, crime scene investigator Gerardo Bloise showed the court where he had found a hair in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car.
The investigator searched Anthony's car on July 17, 2008 for clues about the fate of her missing daughter. On Friday, he testified that the odour of human decomposition wafted from the interior as soon as he opened the door.
Gerardo Bloise said: 'My professional opinion is that it was human decomposition.'

If your daughter/granddaughter accidentally drowned in your pool, what would you do?
Get rid of the body yourselves? Invent a story that she was kidnapped by a nanny and that you were trying to find her for a month when you hid that she was missing, or in George’s case, just pretend that you were clueless as to her whereabouts when you knew she was dead and you helped dispose of her?
Anything that is said now in her defense, in terms of “what really happened”, is totally suspect.
But if they did do that, what is being claimed now, what kind of people are these?
They aren’t normal, and could be considered capable of anything if capable of this.
I agree with your summary of what happened. Also her mother was going to begin the process of seeking custody of the little girl, which would have put Casey out on her ear. She used that child to keep her parents jumping thru hoops for almost 3 years; this would have taken away her ammo so I’m willing to bet that was the final straw which made the fit hit the shan.
She will not age well. She will age worse in prison!
I think the grandmother is freaky-deaky. Her behavior on her first Today Show appearance appalled me. She was done up to a T - her hair styled and her manner chirpy. Hey, why not? She’d finally gotten 15 minutes of fame! The second time she appeared (after getting tons of bad publicity), she looked a wreck. As you say, that poor baby didn’t have a chance.
Anyone know who the father of Caylee was? That’s the most perplexing question of all.
I didn’t know anything about these details - just guessing from body language and such that these two broads are crazy as loons. Why did Casey put her parents through hoops? Did she have a job? I need to update myself on this fascinating if deeply repulsive case!

what gets me though is if the mother was going to try and get custody then she obviously knew her daughter was NOT a fit mother then why in the HELL did she leave her granddaughter with her for a month!!???
I saw the parents on a recent show and they were disgusting, defending their daughter and refusing to deal with reality. I did not like the Mother at all, what a Bitch and I mean Bitch.

What HAS to come out by the prosecution in this case that was mentionned early on..but I haven’t heard it since... is that Casey killed Caylee to spite her mother, knowing she was taking from her the most precious thing in her mother’s life. They had a huge fight the day that Caylee was killed.
Casey is sick, sick, sick..but so is the rest of the enabling family.
And we might never know the truth. Lee, George, Cindy all know their sister/daughter killed Caylee. She had some history. They were the worst enablers ever and were terrified to cross the monster: kind of like when there is a child prone to tantrums in a family and everyone tiptoes around the brat, not wanting to set them off.
Sickening when George and Cindy fawn all over her on the phone calls, calling her “sweetheart”.

Yep, and it seems to me that her mother is also pathological. I know many here will defend ‘this poor grandmother’, but she is clearly a narcissist who was incredibly controlling in that family. It’s a very sick family. Casey is just the sickest.
Has the apartment complex ever explained how this happened? I manage an apartment complex. Our guest cards and applications, even rejected applications, are kept in a secure place.
I can't imagine not going to the police, even if you have a distrust of cops, if your kid is missing, you call the cops.

I am curious about that too. I'm going to guess that Anothony had a "friend" from whom she got the info. Maybe a party boy from the club.
If I were that women, I would get a good lawyer and end up owning the apartment complex that was so careless with my personal information.
Can you imagine what your life would be like if you were in this woman's shoes!!

Easy. Parents put their children’s clothes (especially coats and sweaters) in the trunk all the time and they are going to contain hair of the children on then because children shed hair like anyone else.
I hope there is better evidence than that out there because a hair in the parent’s trunk is as flimsy as it gets. It’s like declaring that mother and daughter both breathed the same air.
Uh yeah there is. Kid’s missing for one thing. Decomposed hair, for another. Car stinks like death. Body found. It actually goes on and on, although you had a point.

I agree. I don’t understand why people can’t come to grips with the fact that evil is real. There are some very evil, vicious, people in the world. Saying they have a mental disorder is giving them an excuse to hide behind.
