Ross Perot the Tea Party and the GOP Political Elite
vanity | 6.4.11 | vanity

Posted on 06/04/2011 12:25:53 PM PDT by rface

Dare I say it? I voted for Ross Perot…..twice……I was a Tea Partier Then, and I am a Tea Partier now.

Back in the older days, I wasn’t going to vote for the DC Establishment Candidate (first GHW Bush then Dole), I was going to vote for the candidate that was going to help make America Fiscally healthy…..and the people of America were going to help make America Morally Healthy.

I was an enthusiastic supporter of Perot, and I know now that this is the same type of enthusiasm that is driving the Tea Party today. A weird fact…..many Tea Partiers, who are old enough, have been asked by me if they voted for Perot back in the days of Papa Bush v Clinton v Perot….then Bob Dole v Clinton v Perot…..and a surprising number of them quickly, and without embarrassment say, “Yes – I voted for Ross Perot”

There were few days left. Election Day loomed on the horizon. GW Bush was running the 1st time, against Gore, and the rac was neck and neck. One of the big questions, was “since Perot is not running, Who is Perot going to publicly support? If I remember right, Perot was doing a Larry King interview….and there where many minds (including Rush Limbaugh) convinced that Perot was going to endorse Gore. I would have been floored if he actually had endorsed Gore…..BUT , Perot enthusiastically endorsed GW Bush.

As a former Perot supporter and two-time voter, I was expecting Perot (NOT hoping) that Perot would indeed endorse GW Bush. Limbaugh was shocked! I tell you he was SHOCKED!!!. Limbaugh was then, an “Inside-the-beltway, Official GOP insider”

Throughout the Clinton years Limbaugh et al. hammer the Perot voters for giving America 8 years of Clinton and Lewinski and Gore and all the messes that came with those times. These were the days that Limbaugh openly carried the “establishment GOP water” and fed it to his listeners through a siphon hose…. Since those days, and since Limbaugh’s hearing loss and drug problems, he has PUBLICLY STATED that he is no longer going to be carrying the GOP water……so now Limbaugh openly says that the GOP establishment wants “we the people” to vote for the GOP Political Insiders…..I say screw that! I agree with Limbaugh - SCREW the DC Insiders! They care about POWER not America.

I will not vote for a Bob Dole – or a McCain or any wishy-washy republican. I want a candidate with courage and a vision and a plan to make and keep America great.

There are several candidates that I might consider later on, but I am now recalling the days before the Tea Party, when the Perot Tea Partiers pushed back against the DC Insider elites.

I was a Tea Partier then and I am a Tea Partier now. I voted for Ross Perot.

W was against abortion but he sure as hell wasn’t against spending and he wasn’t for liberty either. Ref the Patriot Act. Another vote I’m not to proud of.

without fire: There are 2 opposing forces within the GOP. The beltway insiders - that have little concern (or knowledge) for the America we know and love, and the other is the people that vote throughout the country. You and I have let the GOP Elite decide FOR US who is going to be the nominee, and we hav the choice to vote for that person - or loose the election. Sometimes it seems to me that the Elites would just as soon loose the election rather than let some political "outsider" run. Remember how the insiders fawned all over McCain, but shunned Palin? Same thing happened to Perot...the same thing happens to every single person that isn't part of the inside Elite.

This situation is going to stay like this until something gives or breaks.

At this point, I am not giving....I am also hoping that those with bigger voices than mine (Limbaugh and others) MIGHT be able to sway some influence to keep the Elites in check and allow our voic to be heeded.

No Flame.

I’ll wager a bet with you here and now...If palin runs, she wins hands down, no matter the party.

America is awake and listening to the dc crowd and they don’t like the lies and misdirection of the insiders.

Taxpayers will rise to the call, wanna bet?

>>> Voting for the lessor of two evils is still voting for evil >>>

That sounds pithy, but no, it’s not actually the same thing. To follow your logic, you are blaming the choice on the voter. To vote Barr or to sit home is to cast a vote for the GREATER of two evils perhaps.

The folks to blame are the lazy conservatives who were blinded by the McCain war hero thing and voted for him in South Carolina and Florida in huge numbers thereby ensuring he would be the nominee. It is those folks, not the RNC or the elites who gave us McCain. Sure, they welcomed it, but southern ignorance conservative voters are much more to blame.

Okay, so we’re going with the purity risk one more time? In theory you’re right—it has to be done until the Republicans get back in line—it’s just scary given the history of losses.

I can be in for this, I think, but will have to just close my eyes and fire. It’s just horrifying if it doesn’t work, to have Obama for another four, but something has to be done with the DC Republicans. Hold me up.

Perot was an profoundly evil pro-abort and a creation of the Clinton/Dick Morris campaign. See Morris’s memoirs of the period.

You could say that Perot is pro-abortion, along with his early approval of gays in the military, and his statement that he would kick in doors to confiscate guns, I don’t think that the Perot crowd cares much though.

Ross Perot and his family have been at the forefront of the Dallas pro-abortion movement for decades with expensive work on behalf of the abortion industry.

Ross Perot on Abortion;
Pro-choice activist
Perot has not only taken a pro-abortion stand, his is the first presidential candidate ever to have conceived close personal and institutional ties to the abortion industry. The Perots are activists with an interest in the most radical fringe of the pro-abortion movement.
He funded an entire gynecological wing of the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, which has provided first and second trimester abortions as well as amniocentesis research. He has also been a vocal supporter of Planned Parenthood.

Margot and Katherine Perot, 2005 Award Recipients:
Ms. Perot is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dallas, board member of the Dallas Museum of Art and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, The Hockaday School. She is also a former elementary school teacher.
She has been a supporter of Planned Parenthood of North Texas for more than 20 years.
Margot and Katherine Perot are being recognized for their work Chairing Planned Parenthood North Texas’s first annual fund drive, Secure Our Mission, which raised more than $95,000.

Remember the giant sucking sound of jobs going to Mexico from NAFTA? Well add China to the list as well, which no one saw in 1994 and you see the downfall of America. Let’s see, 7 million high paying jobs lost. Now those people are on welfare, food stamps, not sending their kids to college, having their houses foreclosed. You big government Republicans have done just as much as the Democrats to ruin the country. Why? They both work for the Bankers.

Get this through your thick skull Rita, there is no difference between Big government Republicans and Democrats. Let’s see, do I want 35% taxes or 38% taxes. Both parties support big government and high taxes. It is a false choice. We are being robbed blind and people like you fall for their trick every time.

“Voting for the lessor of two evils is still voting for evil”

If you vote, you are always voting for the lesser of two evils.

There is no perfect candidate.

In the extraordinary instance where a candidate was EVERYTHING you wanted and agreed with you on EVERY issue -

he probably wouldn’t be what I want or my friends want.

You are ALWAYS voting for the lesser of two evils.

I'm surprised it took this long to equate the 'lesser of two evils' with the 'perfect candidate'.

A candidate that does not agree with me on every issue is not by definition the lesser of two evils. The lesser of two evils is by definition evil.

Then everyone is evil and you can’t vote for anybody.

This strategy will put a smile on everybody’s face down at the DNC.......that same smile will be on the RNC, unless we use the cattle prod and a bull whip to whip them into shape......you know, "We the People"

“You are ALWAYS voting for the lesser of two evils.”

That is ridiculous.

You are only voting for the lesser of TWO(2) evils when you feel forced to choose between only TWO(2) candidates and not whom you feel is the best candidate.
