Romney reaffirms stance that global warming is real
Boston Globe ^ | June 4, 2011 | Matt Viser

In the first town hall of his freshly announced presidential campaign, Mitt Romney yesterday reaffirmed his view that global warming is occurring and that humans are contributing to it, a position that has been rejected in recent years by many Republicans as the issue has taken on a greater partisan tinge.

"I don't speak for the scientific community, of course," Romney said. "But I believe the world's getting warmer. I can't prove that, but I believe based on what I read that the world is getting warmer. And number two, I believe that humans contribute to that . . . so I think it's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may well be significant contributors to the climate change and the global warming that you’re seeing."

Big Surprise. Massachusetts is shutting down all their coal units...and subsidizing renewables heavily.

“Concur.”

I would almost had more respect for him, if he said that he did read the science and based on that he thinks GW is real and the main contributor is industry — I would call him misguided and wrong. But to say what he did, basically that he doesn’t know and doesn’t care, he just “believes” — makes him a real idiot in my book.

Hey mittens, just go sit on the love seat with Newt and San Fran Nan.

In 2008, private and chartered campaign jets used by candidates who believe global warming is a real threat spewed untold amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Why? So they could go to rallies and tell everybody how greenhouse gases were killing the planet.

Romney as President would beomce a Pander Bear, leaning whichever way he thought would get him approval from the Washington crowd.

Look for the MSM to push him over any real conservative.

Yeah, this statement is really an admission of ignorance and a lack of due diligence. Bad start for Mitt. Reminds me of McCain at one of the debates saying "yes, I support cap and trade" and moving on to the next point, and you just knew damn well he didn't have the faintest idea what "cap and trade" meant.

“Look for the MSM to push him over any real conservative.”

Of course, because Obama can easily beat him.

Delusional if you think Palin can beat Obama and yet think nobody else can. She consistently polls the worst.

Obama 55, Sarah Palin 35

So, you're going to believe a Public Policy Poll that has Obama's Approval rating at the following in a Conservative/Moderate state like Iowa?

Q1 Do you approve or disapprove of President Barack Obama’s job performance? Approve .......................................................... 49% Disapprove...................................................... 45% Not sure .......................................................... 6%

These numbers for a conservative/moderate state are 180 degrees backwards from all polls from a reputable polling organization such as Rassmussen and you would try to use it on a conservative web-site to prove what?

You are going to try and provide that as proof from an organization whose polls are routinely debunked as leaning far to the left in their sampling?

Really?

Do you not pay attention or is it that you don't care how tainted your evidence is, just so long as it casts Sarah Palin in a negative light?

Even if Romney wasn’t already disqualified from getting my vote, this would disqualify him. I mean, when you read his entire statement, you understand that he is basing his belief on nothing of substance. He just believes it without any proof.

Gingrich had a strategy, when he had that ill-conceived picture taken with Pelosi. Newt’s point was that instead of just saying “No”, which the Dems can exploit, we need to engage in the debate and educate the people. He never said or implied that he believes in global warming.

First page on a google search.

Newt Gingrich "The Evidence is Sufficient" on Global Warming

Newt sold out and compromised on key conservative principles long ago.

Maybe you should do some research before you post.

I remember Pawlenty and Newt supporting this nonsense as well. Did Perry? Are any of the Republican candidates who actually have a significant executive record actually conservative, or are choices RINOs or greenhorns?

Is there any chance conservatives can talk Barbour or Daniels back into the race?

Going after the CA, MA, and NY votes in the primary. Abandoning all hope for the rest of the country.

“I remember Pawlenty and Newt supporting this nonsense as well. Did Perry? “

Looks like he is definitely NOT buying into it:

Texas Blasts Federal Efforts to Fight Global Warming

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124458842076899771.html

“Ms. Combs joined Gov. Rick Perry, also a Republican, at a meeting with industry leaders in the state capitol to discuss the threat of federal climate-change policy and underscore the energy-producing state’s skittishness towards the environmental concerns that are at the core of the Obama administration’s policy-making.

“I happen to think that what they are discussing could wreck our traditional energy industry and put a very serious dent in our economy,” said Mr. Perry. He repeated his view that the proposed provisions that recently passed out of committee in the House of Representatives amounted to the largest tax increase in history. The provisions would put a limit on emissions of the gasses blamed for climate change and require companies to pay for permits to pollute. As a result, “Every American that uses any source of energy would see their bills go up,” he said.”

Another statement by Perry regarding GW (Oct 2007):

“”I’ve heard Al Gore talk about man-made global warming so much that I’m starting to think that his mouth is the leading source of all that supposedly deadly carbon dioxide,” Perry said.

“Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you won’t read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be good stewards of our environment. We should. I am just saying when politics hijack science, it quells true scientific debate and can have dire consequences for our future.”

Libs say that Obama should not grant disaster relief to Texas for wildfires, because those are the result of global warming, and Perry does not support the global warming dogma.

"I want someone who will undo the destruction Obama has brought upon the Nation"

Well I can tell you this, he will not undo Obamacare except to install his own version of it. Then he will sit back and say how grand it is for businesses to "take care of their employee's health", which of course will "take care" of any hopes of gaining job growth in this country. Nail, meet coffin.
